Ok so Im running a P8600 and when I first got this computer last friday it was fast, now... not so much, when I exit a game it takes a while to recover, then takes awhile to do anything else. Im runnin about 76 processes right now, im wondering if that is slowing me down, or should I opt for a better cpu? or what? I'm just looking to make my desktop replacement a little faster =).

Note: Vista also takes super long to shut down and power up, is that normal?

Your machine didn't come with that many processes, I'm sure of it. Mine had no bloatware on it when it showed up. Have you installed a bunch of programs? If so, those programs will need to shut down before Windows can, and also be started up when you turn on the machine. Your processor is fine. It's the same one I started out with. Unless you're going to start doing the benchmarking thing, then yeah, you're going to want the Quad.

Get back to us on the processes. I would attribute that to your performance loss.
