So i was reading CPU magazine when something caught my eye it was the little phrase of WD VelociRaptor now comes in a 2.5in form factor, i thought this would be too cool to be true but when i went to WD website it is listed there my next thought is who will be the first to get this into a laptop without it melting down would running this drive be better than a SSD, certintly not on the power consumption part but maybe on performance just a thought what does everyone else have to say.

It's a 2.5" drive, but has to be inside a 3.5" enclosure for heat purposes.

It wont work in your laptop for two reasons, heat and power requirements. The velociraptor requires a 12volt line which most laptops do not have in their internal sata ports.
Most laptops cannot source more than 500mah on their 12volt line if they even have one, which is not enough power to get the velociraptor to spool up.
trust me, I have tried it already on my d900k, a friends d900t, xps 1710, xps1730 and the d901c.
    It will not spool up.
