Hello is it worth to wait for the new Montevina platform for the M15x?
Its being released on the 14th right? And I haven't ordered yet.

There's already so many threads about this.
Have a look around.

Depends on how fast you need your system. I didn't bother waiting because I couldn't wait. If you can wait then wait.
Montevina is not much of a big upgrade. It basically uses a newer chipset which supports DDR3 ram and also faster DDR2 ram. Basically it uses the Intel 40 series chipset instead of the older 965 chipset. Still will use the same Penryn 45nm CPUs.
When laptops switch to the Nehalem platform next year (around Q3 of 2009) it will be a pretty big upgrade. Auburndale (Dual Core) and Clarksfield (Quad Core) are the codenames for Intel's Nehalem based mobile CPUs. These use the new mPGA 989 socket. This is the upgrade that will want to wait for, not Montievina. -
it has been confirmed by AW the it WILL NOT be added to the m15x so you will have a long wait.
unless they have changed their mind.
any updates AW james or AW armando -

i was just told that the black m15x is never going to come out ... so im going to wait for a quadcore laptop Montevina VoodooPC laptop... bugger the m15x
but yer if u want the M15x+Montevina looks like it will never happen (or at least for a year or so) -
heath, you did notice that Voodoo made a rather conspicous step away from gaming laptops, right?
-
What happened to the biggest AW fan even? Growing wiser?

I tried to chat with voodoo the other day. I was met by the Blackbird support. I'm not really sure which direction voodoo is now heading.

Can any one make a wild guess and tell me what the performance difference might be between Montevina and Nehalem and also is there any desktop out there that has such tech as in nehalem direct connect and stuff?,will the DDR3 ram make any performance difference over DDR2 and isn't it going to support Quad CPUs that should give a performance difference not to mention the 9series graphics which will definitely give rise to performance difference and faster FSB also helps.
-
well no one can give any info about Nehalem or know any, but in terms of santa rosa to monetevina i can tell you this.
montevina uses less power, uses ddr3, has support for *wimax and *quad core (*some laptops will not have this due to other issues)
so benefits are faster speeds, longer battery and 9series support hopefully. -

Sorry guys, but unfortunately the Montevina will not be making its way to the m15x platform. This was also confirmed by AW-Armando.
-
there we have it. i've been telling you all along. still kinda sad though.
-
Less heat
less mobo= less weight= more aluminium to make a stronger case and hinges.. these are minor changes that would bring AW's reputation back again...the issue is that you can't change that, you're here as a rep- I might bring these issues up on the Dell investor call.. now that can be fun
if I can pass the message to some ppl I know.. I sounded like a hot shot there ( I am not) -
Are these going to make their way into the M15x platform, or are you going to keep ignoring your costumer's complaints? -
