Did some googling, apparently it might have something to do with ATI Smart service being disabled? Does that make sense?

    installed GPU clock tool v0.9.8

ran it and my computer froze, waited like 5 mins to see if it would recover but it didn't so I had to restart

I did the 9.7 mobility mod and games work just fine, no driver issues at all

    wonder what's up

it does work for the w90 and the msi gt725 which has the 48series in them. just the 3870 which flextronics disabled overclocking on. and ati stopped overclocking on 8.10

Did it actually work on W90 ? I know the option could be there, but did it actually worked ? Ive tried about 10 different drivers so far which none of them had that feature.

so then we need ati overdrive in order to overclock them then?

also if the bios is locked out then we are just out of luck?

because i know the w90 and the msi gt725 overclocked no matter the driver but now that i look at it, they only used ati overdrive to over clock there cards.

Yeah, it doesn't work, just tried it again, comp froze

    :(

Cant overclock them then? Not a big deal I guess, I installed:

    left 4 dead
    cod4
    fallout 3
    crysis warhead
    prototype

I can max out cod4, left 4 dead, and fallout 3 no prob

crysis warhead gives me only 18-23 fps on enthusiast 1920x1200
prototype gives me ~23-27 fps but when I oc w/ SetFsb to 2.7Ghz it runs around 29-31, obviously the qx9300 or x9100 would fix this

EDIT: All tests performed with mobility modded cat 9.7 drivers

Just a performance report, I installed:

    left 4 dead
    cod4
    fallout 3
    crysis warhead
    prototype

I can max out cod4, left 4 dead, and fallout 3 no prob ~60fps or better

crysis warhead gives me only 18-23 fps on enthusiast 1920x1200
prototype gives me ~23-27 fps but when I oc w/ SetFsb to 2.7Ghz it runs around 29-31, obviously the qx9300 or x9100 would fix this

prototype is more cpu dependent then on the gpu. a i7 should bring even greater results. only when at high res.(1920*1200, 2500*1500) and when aa4x is enabled it will matter on your gpu if it has one gb of vram.

For prototype you need to go into your device manager and disable some of the HID devices in there and you can do this while the game is minimized to see the effect it has on the frame rate.

    Google prototype hid devices
