I appologize if this has been covered. I normally get warrenties for the expensive things I buy. Right now my M17X is in the mail on it's way to me and will probably take several weeks. Currently for the warrenty I have the 1 Yr Ltd Hardware Warranty, InHome Service after Remote Diagnosis. Obviously after spending quite a bit on this I want it covered as best as possible. I take good care of things, but when I head back home there are kids around and such and possibly unforseen circumstances. I want to get the computer covered for at least the 4 years that dell offers. Not only does this make the resale value better, but it also offers peace of mind. Is the 4 yr In-home Svs after remote diagnosis+Your Tech Team+Complete Care+LoJack warrenty really worth the money? I mean if the laptop is stolen maybe. And that is always possible when I travel and what not. What I really want to know is what does "Your Tech Team" offer? is it just a convienence? will that really make a differance? I know I want complete care and the 4 year warranty, but don't really know if i'd benefit from remote diagnosis, ect. I'm willing to shell out the cash for the $727 for the max warranty, but I just want to know that its worth it. Thanks guys and gals

    Dan

you can probably call in after you get your laptop and haggle down the cost of the warranty. i've had them call me after buying one wanting to sell me the warranty and got them to lower the price before.

04 R6. Hmm I think I will try and haggle with them. Especially since I got the EPP for the laptop. Wonder how low I can go

It is to an extent, although the chances of getting hit by indirect fire such as a rocket in my area are really slim. I'm the only person around my laptop. What worries me is the curious nature of my nieces and nephews. But you bring up an interesting thought. If my room gets hit and shrapnel damages my laptop, i wonder if dell will replace it under complete care. Afterall its not a fire or flood. Hmm lol

I think most insurance companies have an "acts of war or god" clause.

Yea, I'm going to take my chances that it won't get damaged by acts of war. But my real question is What good is "My Tech Team" Is it worth the extra money?

haha. Yea I don't think so either. I should be home back in the states next december. Depends on if I have a job back home lined up. What all does it cover though? Maybe it would be worth it down the road if something goes wrong?

Excellent suggestion and I suggest this as well. Prior to your initial coverage expiring, use the link I posted HERE and view the online cost to extend coverage. Take some notes and then contact Dell Sales. See if you can secure a lower price over the phone. :)

I was wondering the same things s you, does anyone have the your tech team? How has it worked out? What is the cost? Is it monthly charges or yearly fee? I would imagine that if I was going to subscribe to it, it would be after I have a problem.
