    Hello everyone,

I am thinking about buying a new gaming laptop and I have a question about alienware m17x warranty. If I buy it in US, would the warranty be fully supported also outside US, in Poland where I live ? On Polish Dell site they do not offer the alienware laptop, so not sure if that would work ?

    Thanks,
    Peter

    hi

I looked it up as well and here is the info you want:

    http://support.dell.com/support/top...ional_travel?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=anavml

That means you have to pick the premium service or something like that when ordering and then you will receive international support. When I talked to a customer rep, he said that I should buy the 3 yr. extended warranty for that.

Also, there are quite some additional hick-ups when ordering in the US. First of all all the prices are without tax (the value depends on the state its shipped to? ). Secondly, they do not ship overseas nor to hotels/motels so you would have to ship it to some friend or family relative. Moreover, if they ship it to you, you will have to pay tax when the item enters the EU. You might be able to slip past the vat if you bring the laptop yourself, but you have to be careful. My friend once had to pay tax for a guitar.

Finally, I dont know how they will react on DOA. They might not send you a new replacement unit, but rather repair your unit ( if you report it in poland). But this I dont know.

But, what you certainly can try is to call dell in Poland and ask if you maybe could order it over the phone with them. In the UK you can pick components in the M15x which you cannot pick over the internet, so it worth a shot I guess.

    Hi,

Thanks for the answer, I have already bought a dell laptop in US once and took it with my to Poland, it was just a cheap one so didn't care about warranty too much, but the alienware is too expensive to ignore that :) . Was able to get it without paying a tax in Poland, so hopefully I won't have any problems with alienware too. In Poland there are some vendors that offer the alienware with warranty, but it would be much more expensive than buying it in US, so I prefer to buy it there when I have a chance. Also with my work almost half of the year I'm in US, so probably some replacement can do in US if not possible in Poland. Also last time I ordered my dell laptop to a hotel with no problem, would it be a problem with alienware laptop ?

    Thanks,
    Peter

Well, I talked to them 2 weeks ago (2 different sales rep) both of them said that they dont ship to a hotel. I dont know, maybe their policy changed. But you can use the online chat to verify this. Just click on the "chat now" option on the site
