Way too many complaints with the M15xx is driving me completely off considering AW M17xx. Am I being too harsh? Now I am seriously considering one of these: HP8710w or Dell 6300 or Sager 9262

there are complaints about the overheating and underclocking. this has been fixed in many cases by the new BIOS versions. the complaints about the gap in the chassis seem to have dissapeared, and other than that, it's all crap about the customer support...annoying yes, but doesn't really affect the performance of your laptop.

All the problems with the m15x have been fixed. Both the overheating problem and the "cracking problem" have been fixed. m15xs recently shipped have the overheating fix already installed and the gap where the cracking occurred on a few m15xs looks different on newer ones.

Even with the new fix, there have still been some people who have received the new BIOS and have still run into the downclocking problem. Granted, the chance that you will have a laptop with the downclocking problem will be much less than before as AW has tried to fix the problems. My opinion is to be very wary about buying one because if it doesn't work I feel as if you will be a very unhappy customer. It is your money though, and if you want the M8800GTX in a 15" notebook than go for it. If it works properly it will be a great laptop.

Get a warranty that will last 2-3 years and buy any AW computer you want. IF there is a problem, you send it back and they fix it. If they don't get it right on the 3rd try, you get your money back. What do you have to loose but some time? You have to gain the nicest gaming laptop on the planet.

It's easy to say, but not as easy to do my friend. I'm going through exactly what you are saying and I'm almost going insane. haha
