After I've updated my graphics card drivers to 180.48, I get some very strange audio popping issues when streaming videos, such as this one: http://www.crunchyroll.com/media-414700/Comeuppance-Movie-Part-1.html
When I say weird I mean that the audio is fine in normal mode. The popping only occurs in full screen. Other videos played in WMP or VLC that are saved on my computer work fine.
I rolled back to the old drivers but didn't help. To be honest I didn't think this graphics card drivers update has anything to do with it but there's nothing else I could link the problem to, as I haven't changed anything else. It occurs in all browsers: Firefox, IE and Safari.
I'm lost... Any ideas?

i presume you're on BIOS x32 or x34, both are known to cause audio popping. if so, update to x36.
-
I'm on x36
Quick question: If I were to do a system restore to about 2 weeks ago, would I lose all the files and documents I created on my laptop since that restore point was created or just the settings I've changed, programs installed etc.? -
-
. It's something that basically just appeared overnight after that update which may be just a coincidence.
-
only fullscreen? and it worked perfectly fine in fullscreen before the update?
-
Do you think it's worth trying a system restore to before the update? I guess I can backup some files. -
why not just try the older GPU driver, since that seemed to make the change?
-
I tried that with no success. Also tried a system restore to before updating but that failed due to some unspecified problem
.

Have you also tried updating the sound card drivers? Using Driver Sweeper? Also, are you using Vista? There is a setting that might need to be tweeked in vista because of the way vista implements the new audio stack.

Also try this. Right-click on the "realtek-audio manager icon" in the bottom right corner of the desktop. Go to "Sound manager" -->"Speakers"--> "Sound Effects" tab. Uncheck the option that says "loudness Equalization." See if that helps any. For me, when I check this option, it boosts my volume of the speakers. Maybe it's too loud that's why it is causing the popping in the audio.
I forgot to ask is this popping occuring through the speakers only? or both headphones and speakers? -
Crystak, do you happen to have MSN or AIM?

Thank you guys for the help but I called AW tech support and they managed to solve it for me quite easily. The technician I talked to thought there was a problem with the flash player as the movie on that site uses a flash player so he uninstalled the flash player from my system and then re-installed it. This solved the problem.
I'm a bit baffled by this because I now have the same version I had before, so why should that make a difference.
I'm just glad it works now.

Ah, glad to know you managed to resolve it!
