Hi there.
So I got my area 51 m15x around the middle of june and it's ben working great since then no real problems other than normal little quirks you'd expect with a windows based computer. However something really weird happened today that makes me wonder if something actually broke. I do have a theory of what happened though and hopefully I'm right. So here's what happened.
Due to the horrid battery life (still working on getting the smartbay battery) I usually keep it plugged in when I can. So last night I was using it at my friend's place and when I went to bed I just closed the lid. I have it set to do nothing if I close the lid while it has the AC cord plugged in. Now when I wake up I open the lid and the keyboard lights are on and everything just shuts off after like 2 seconds. Naturally I'm thinking "what the hell?". I first try turning it on and nothing. So I take the battery out and still nothing. I then realize that the cord came unplugged at night probably done by the cat or it was accidentally tugged on. Turns on fine with the AC cord plugged in. After I got it going again I decided to shutdown and put the battery back in and boot it back up, I only got bout a second of power.
Now, I worry a lot which is why I'm posting here. I mean I don't want to dick around with a $2200 investment. I'm fairly certain I just drained the battery to nothing when the cord came loose. It would only take like 2.5 hours at most with settings at max just siting on my desktop. Which t would eb charging now and I'll try in an hour or two.
The only concern I have is that I don't see the little battery icon on my... can't remember the name it's where msn, and the windows updates go in the bottom right.
Am I worrying too much? lol.

Yea you are probably worrying too much. If the computer is unplugged it will drain the battery like a normal computer. Just let it charge up and test it and then see what happens.

The battery Icon in the Notification Area a.k.a. systray is configurable
Under XP... Control Panel->Power Options
Under Vista... Right Click on Taskbar->Properties->Notification
