Well I finally received my m15x back from hinge repairs and I must admit that the new hinges feel incredible. It was like getting a new laptop all over again and I am very satisfied with the work the folks at roswell did with their support.

On another note; as soon as I got the laptop back I decided to remove the CPU and the GPU and regoop everything with ceramique. My temperatures for the GPU are from 3 - 7 degrees celsius less and the CPU 10 -15 degrees celsius less. I dont have any detailed information as I didnt collect data before doing so, but it seems cooler overall according to past temp. logs.

Now I'm experiencing some weird issues with the volume slider; it frequently just blinks out the blue and does this continuously every so often. The bios was update by the folks at the repair facility and is currently at vX36 P3. Could anyone say if I should stay with this version or could you provide a link to the most stable one... I beleive I was using X32.

Well now that I got my m15x back I might be writing some software and hardware tutorials to achieve 7500 on 3DMARK06 with the 8700M GT some interesting project that I unconciously did and yielded some results but that is for some other time.

The X36 BIOS update is likely what dropped your temps. It changes the fan properties to run more frequently as I understand it. As for the volume slider, this seems to be becoming an all too common problem. I would recommend you call Roswell, and let them know about this issue.

Also, I just got through harping about the volume slider issue in this thread

It wasn't the BIOS that lowered the temps; stress tests with nvidia nbitor were performed both before the regooping and after without changing anything and the regooping yielded better results.

    Hello Rfrancis,

I am glad to hear that you got you m15x back and the problem was fixed.

Regarding your volume slider issue, you can try to fix the problem by updating your Chipset driver and also the On Screen Display driver.
    Please find both drivers below:

    Chipset:
    http://aliendl.alienware.com/Mobile/m15x/m15x_Chipset_Vista_8.3.0.1014.exe

    On Screen Display:
    http://aliendl.alienware.com/Mobile/m15x/m15x_OSD_Vista_00020.exe

If either of these drivers do not fix your issue, please give me a call at your earliest convenience and I will help you get it fixed.

I got my new m15x 2 weeks ago and have the same problem.
I solved it by reinstalling the newest command centre :)
