    If it was my Desktop I could take on external storage and keep it back in drawer when done, but with my mobo I want to take my data always with me and not to mention multiple VPCs each one taking close to 10gigs :)

    yeah but the higher data density of the 500gb drive can offset the speed loss. of course, initial seek times are lower. i guess it's each to his own - i'd go for speed too, seeing how the HDD is usually the bottleneck nowadays.
