What time of HDD does the m17 use the 1.8 or 2.5?

Go with a 500GB 5400RPM 2.5" drive. Newegg is selling one for $110.

Aye, but wouldn't speed be preferred? I don't know, I always consider Storage secondary - can get an external for that

If it was my Desktop I could take on external storage and keep it back in drawer when done, but with my mobo I want to take my data always with me and not to mention multiple VPCs each one taking close to 10gigs

yeah but the higher data density of the 500gb drive can offset the speed loss. of course, initial seek times are lower. i guess it's each to his own - i'd go for speed too, seeing how the HDD is usually the bottleneck nowadays.
