Is it samsung or corsair? It can't be Alienware's own brand?

    Cheers

Unknown. Any laptop manufacturer is going to use what is in stock, be it Hynix or Kingston or Samsung or any other out there. RAM is RAM, there is very little/no difference between brands most of the time.

I think thay have their own memory; I got a part number off the picture on their support site...

    http://4help.alienware.com/cgi-bin/alienware.cfg/php/enduser/fattach_get.php?p_sid=Dy3bOHtj&p_li=&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_file_id=113568&p_tbl=9&p_id=5664&p_created=1194370554&p_olh=0

...that can be traced to a company in China, YoShion Electronics (HK). I think they purchase the chips (or did) from them to make the memory. Yes, I'm bored...

Lol. Thanks for all the info guys. So it's probably just some decent brand value RAM? Corsair or Kingston value?

there were several threads previously that stated quimonda and samsung from the AW reps.
i think they use whatever happens to be in supply from the vendors. although i am sure they are not low end. i bet thay are just as good as any you can get from newegg.
they just happen to get a better price due to the contracts and volume they deal with.

Yeah, the stock stuff that came with mine was fine - preformed well, just overpriced.

    Thanks all for the info.
