I was wondering what thermal paste the M15x comes with and if maybe we could reduce the heat problems with something more effective...
I'm sure I'm not the only smart ass to think of this but I haven't seen a thread on thermal paste...
Thanks!![]()

I recall seeing some threads about the thermal paste being comparable to AS5... (though I don't think it actually IS AS5).
Changing the Thermal compund doesn't make a BIG difference. -
Yes, I have heard that its a silver-based compound but is not AS5. Changing the thermal paste has not helped anyone who has so far (from what I can recall) and Alienware does not advise doing so.

back when we still had the gpu problem where it was downclocking and AW was trying to find anwsers AW said they tried using AS5 as a solution. they said they say no differnce when they were using AS5. So i dont think changing to AS5 would do anything and i doubt you would want to void your warranty doing so. If i was to change to a different thermal compound, it would be IC 7 Karat(i believe that is what it is called). Diamonds are way better than silver at conducting heat and it would be more effective than AS5. In my opinion AS5 is overrated.

How about... Coollaboratory Liquid Pro? @ www.coollaboratory.com
-
that's cooling liquid, suitable only for high-end desktops with liquid cooling solutions...
-
Oh my bad... lol I feel like a n00b, I heard about it from the review from www.custompc.co.uk

MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
I think it comes with a custom thermal paste called "Alien Ice".
-
well i guess you could try submerging your m15x in (non-conductive, hopefully) cooling fluid... might help with overheating
-
the only point is that you have to use VERY VERY little AS5.
most people use to much.
as you can see in my thread i used very little and my cpu is much cooler than markus.kainer one and i think we got exactly the same -
i could use some Alien ice on mine, just in case ^^ i like aliens.
