If this has already been done I apologize, I was just curious what people wrote down for their faceplate option. I put Adrenaline because this sucker's fast!

I'm someone who has to name every piece of tech he has, so it was the name of the laptop lol

I opted out of the laser etched nameplate, as it would speed up production and get me my laptop sooner! Ain't into these gimmicks much anyway...

Faceplate? So that's what in the US is called? Because in the down under, we call it Nameplate. My current M14x, I put my full name with the "[Full name]'s M14x" on, however for my next M17xR4, it will be "CGSDR".

Does getting the custom nameplate really increase production time?

Apparently. AFAIK, Donald@PNB told me my laptop could take upto 2 weeks to arrive at PNB with the nameplate... But without it, my laptop was ready in a matter of few days..

Well if you think about it, the nameplate is the only component of the laptop which is specifically customized just for you... so yea, it makes sense that it would take up the majority of the production time. I mean if you put me in a room with all the components needed to build an M11x i'd have one done every few hours so i don't see why Dell takes so long if it wasn't for this.

I have "The Rish" & "RishFTWin" nameplates as well as a default "M11x".

The site says they only support alphanumeric characters. Does it support spaces? What about quotation marks? Some people have been posting quotes in this thread.

Using quotes to quote what it is they have on their nameplate... Using the word exactly as it was deigned, lol.

    Alphanumerical and spaces only.

I also name all my tech. Silly maybe. :)

Usually I name things after classic fiction characters or mythological beings/creatures. This machine was named after the latter, and in a way also after my first cat.

I got a free additional nameplate with mine. When I ordered my laptop, I told them to engrave "Absolute Nuckin'Futz!" on mine. They messed up and made separated the Nuckin and Futz. They sent me and new one later that was corrected. So now I have a spare that just sits on my 27" Samsung.

All that said, I was not in any hurry to get my laptop. Had to wait two extra weeks for it just because of the nameplate. So for some I agree it is not worth the extra wait. Nobody ever sees the nameplate anyway on the bottom of the laptop.

Weird that they are saying that it takes longer....I ordered my M17X in Canada and the Canadian site does not even give us the option to personalize our nameplates so I emailed customer service and they made me up one. The name plate was mailed separate of my laptop and arrived a good week before the machine did.
