...in the M17x? I think it's a Seagate but my drive is obnoxious and i wanna try and find some firmware updates for it so it'll shut up. It's putting a serious damper on my love life!

Yes the 500GB is a Seagate drive. I am not home to get you the model number. IMO its a horrible drive on performance.

Do what I did, call Alienware, tell them your hard drive has the click of death. After some stupid troubleshooting, they'll send you a new one. Ask them to send you a Western Digital. If they can't, sell the replacement Seagate one they send you, and buy a WD drive, which do not park nearly as much.

Then install QuietHDD, it's free and you can create a batch file which you can set to run on startup and/or use task scheduler to run on login which will set your APM to 255, essentially telling your drive to never park the head, making it noiseless.

Do this, and your life will become infinitely better.

Do this before calling. Use your windows resource dvd reboot the computer and when it say hit any key hit a key and do a hard drive test and you get a error code that you can give them they just send you a new hard drive.
