Actually, they won't be the same quality at all. Just because they are from the same company doesn't mean anything. I mean, Samsung makes LCDs for companies like Sony and Dell, yet since each company demands different specs and quality they receive different products.

As a result, the screens AW gets aren't the exact same as anyone else's as far as I know...

I can't tell you for certain, but from the latest Dells that I have seen and the two AWs I have seen in my life I think that the AWs have been better.

But, this being said, all of the Dells that I have seen have been from their Inspiron lineup so it really isn't much of a comparison...

I have another question, as of now i have the xps m1730 with a 2.4 ghz duo core, 4gb ram, nvidia 8700m gt 256mb card.

Now what i want to know is will i notice a big diff with my m9750 AW specs of,
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5500 1.66GHz 2MB Cache 667MHz FSB, 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 667MHz – 2 x 512MB, but i will upgrade later to 4gb, and NVIDIA® GeForce® Series - 512MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8700M GT - Enables DirectX® 10 Graphics, 17" WideXGA+ 1440 x 900 LCD.

    Thanks for ur help :)

Well obviously you have a slower CPU (which I would suggest upgrading to the 2.0 Ghz) but your GPU is going to be quite a bit better with the 8700. :)

the m9750 is an old Alienware, and you're comparing it to a fairly new XPS model from dell.

    the XPS is obviously better.

    CPU:
    m9750: C2D T5500 1.66Ghz 2MB L2 Cache, 667 FSB.
    XPS 1730: C2D T8300 2.4Ghz 3MB L2 Cache, 800 FSB.

    RAM:
Both use the same type of Ram at the same speed

    graphics:
Both can do graphics in SLI and both handle 8700M GT models

    Screen:
    m9750: WXGA 17" LCD (1440x900)
    XPS 1730: WUXGA 17" LCD (1920x1200)

Overall the XPS 1730 wins, however, it's a much more recent machine... (which says something about AW... being on the cutting edge)

If you want a cutting edge machine, something better than the XPS, you're going to have to aim higher. m17x is the way to go.

I was going to get the m17x, but it only comes with VISTA, WHICH SUCKS!
Is there a way to get xp drivers for it?
    Thanks.

Viewing angles (L/R/U/D deg) min @ CR or 10:

    WLED WXGA+

    0.2304 x 0.2304 mm

    WSXGA+
    0.1971 x 0.1971 mm

the LED backlight display will be brighter than both of the AW screen which is expected. The viewing angles on the dell screens are not as good as the AW screen. Especially the WXGA one. The Up viewing angle is pretty bad.

ROFLMAO. Honestly, the only thing that the Dell has over the AW is it's Santa Rosa CPU. Otherwise the m9750 matches every other component and then adds AW build quality to boot.

As a side note, AW was the first company to have 1920X1200 screens on their 17" notebooks, so I wouldn't say that they don't have it for the m9750 seeing as I am using one RIGHT NOW. LOL

the m9750 can use the 7950gtx cards which are better than the 8700m gt cards.

That's true. A Single 7950 GTX is about even with a Single 8700 but 8700s SLi only gain 8-10%, whereas 7950 GTX SLi gain over 50%. :D

Man I'm so confused, i really like my xps m1730s flashy looks, but the lcd sucks balls, they gave me a crappy samsung, and i asked for a LG LCD.
If i got the LG LCD i would probably keep my m1730, but i might have to get the AW, what should i do, i need help to decide please?
Like i have this feeling that the lower specs of AW are faster then the Dell laptops, i don't? I guess cuz dell uses crappy parts i think like that, i don't trust them, for all we know they could be fricken refurbished.

you could try following the how to get an lg screen from dell guide. you need a bit of patience tho. the first method was to keep sending your laptop in until you got the lg screen. the second method is to call customer service to see if they have the lg screen in stock and then ask the customer service rep to ship the screen to the on site technician. the on site technician will come to your house to install it. some times you wont get the lg screen from the technician so all you do is keep calling and having the guy come over until you get the lg screen.

well you could ask, but i'd say the chances of it actually happening are slim to non-existant.
