I don't understand the appeal of this thing... at all really. 6100 3dMark06 is extremely weak, and the 1.3ghz dual core processor will absolutely suffocate frames.
So, I'm curious what people are really attracted to in this from gaming a perspective? Older games perhaps?

comparing 06 scores it is similar to the GeForce Go 7950 GTX SLI, which was released in the m9700s and was a great laptop. I just want to know how aion will play on it, cause I love aion. If some one could post aion benches when they get theres next month...
-
Well reviews do say it can play left 4 dead 2 pretty well...
-
This is the laptop for the person that obviously has no intention of replacing their desktop rig. It sacrifices being able to run stuff maxed out with portability.
Just because you can't run things maxed out doesn't mean you can't run them at a setting that balances frames with aesthetics.
That being said, i know MANY people that travel a lot and find my M15x FAR too heavy / big to take around but would still like a lappy that can play games on the go when they're out on a business trip to somewhere far away. My guild leader is always traveling and i know something like this would work wonders for him. -
Compare this with the competition. The closest contender is the Toshiba T115D, MSI U230, Acer Ferrari One. These all have the AMD Athlon Neo X2 and HD 3200. Then there's the HP Mini 311 and Asus Eee 1201n with ION graphics, but anemic Atom CPU. Yes they cost $500-$600, a few hundred cheaper than the m11x, but are that much more crippled for gaming.
This is a significant feat in the compact notebook world. Find me a 13" or 14" that has comparable specs at same or better pricing. With discounts I got a decently equipped version for about $800. You're basically getting decent 14" components in an 11.6" package for the same or better price.
It's not intended to be a 3 year ownership laptop. It costs $600-1000, not $2000+. It's still much more powerful than most laptops out there too.
The Toshiba I have now can play Modern Warfare 2 reasonably well, granted at lowest settings, but it works. And for occasional gaming it's perfectly fine, and it's CPU is probably 50% the power of the SU7300 and GPU only a fraction of the GTX 335m. The Toshiba has a 3DMark06 score of 1300 overclocked. So I can't see how the m11x wouldn't manage these same games so much better. Plus I'm sure you can OC the CPU and GPU to get your 3DMark06 score in the mid 7000's.
I'll be sure to bench the hell out of my m11x when I get it too. See my sig for a couple rounds of benches I've done with my two current laptops. -

Everything that is unplayable on my current Acer Timeline AS3810T-6376 (SU9400 + Intel GMA 4500MHD) from my Steam account when I'm on the road.
-
I'm getting it for Mafia Wars and Farmville.
Not really, Modern Warfare 2 mostly and We'll see what else -
As long as it can run L4D2, TF2, CS:S, and COD4:MW that's perfect. (for me
)
-
Plus GTA4.
-
-
For me BF2, BC2, AvP, Mass Effect 2, IL-2.
-
My desktop has trouble with the BC2 Beta, so I doubt I'll be playing it on my M11x. If i do, it'll be at extra low.
-
-
-
ME1 & 2, Fallout 3, Bioshock 1 & 2, WoW, STO, BC2, SC2, and steam games.
-
Bc2 is still in beta stage, so they still have to fix some .. the optimization sucks
-
-
WoW, MW2, Bioshock 2, Dragon Age Origins hopefully. All the Source games.
-
I really want to play Empire total war, but will probably have issues with the size of the screen; eg my eyes will bleed trying to spot all the little units.
I also want to play Mass Effect 1 & 2...I saw a you-tube vid that said the m11x runs ME2 pretty damn well, which means ME1 should be fine. I would love to get the M17x but there are just too many horror stories to justify a £3000 risk like that. Xfire not working, SLi not working, stuttering, throttling, etc ad infinitum...so in that respect the M11x looks far more attractive a proposition just from the lower price POV -
TBH, I wouldn't be surprised if Alienware came out with an i5 / 360m 13" offering. Then they'd have a full gamut of laptops to choose from.
-
We only play one game atm in the house. Thats Lord of the Rings Online. it'll be nice to play that on the road on the M11x.
though sid meyer's railroads should be fun too. -
-
-
Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2, Dragon Age, Fallout NV, and Alpha Protocol
M11x has more than enough oomph to run these games at medium or higher settings.
But I am getting a used one. $899 to start in Canada is too high. I already have one $4200 alienware toy. -
1. Get some bloody perspective. This is a netbook sized system with more power than any other sub-15" laptop in the world. This is an 11" system that has already been proven capable of playing MW2 and Mass Effect 2 maxed, and playing Crysis, even if that's on low that's frigging amazing for what's basically a netbook.
2. No, the 1.3GHz dual core will NOT 'suffocate frames'. Firstly because the vast majority of games nowadays are far more GPU reliant than CPU reliant, seondly because it can be overclocked to 1.6GHz through a simple BIOS option. Not many games will lose more than a few frames over a faster dual core.
Hell, I play all my games with the CPU in power saver. That means my very CPU runs at 1.6GHz playing the likes of MW2, Batman Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age Origins, even Crysis only loses one or two frames. I'm aware my system is a quad core but few games use more than 2 cores.
3. This isn't just a gaming laptop. I prefer to look at it as a netbook that can play games. It's highly portable and has 8 and a half hours battery life max.
The M11x is capable of playing every single game I can think of, even Crysis, even if it has to be on low settings it'll still look great. The GT 335M is a more than capable GPU. -
Mind you there is an i3 gateway with 5650 for $699 cdn. It's a 15" but it will be much faster.
Less pOrtable than m11x but better than my m17x. -
I will be playing L4d 1 + 2, MW2, Cod4 + 5 (nazi zombies!!!), GTA's (Don't think IV will work as its for quad cores
) that's all I can think of right now
-
Sigh. Comparing a 15" with an 11" doesn't make sense. If you're fine with a larger laptop, so be it. You can definitely get more bang for your buck with a larger laptop but the offset is its size.
-
only in my dreams would I have thought they would engineer something like this.
And the few harping about gaming on a 11.6" screen well consider that millions of people game happily game on PSP, DS and Apple Itouch and Iphones. -
-
-
I'm not going to lie... Black & White.. man that was a good game.
-
-
-
those who are comparing an 11" system with a 15" system really need to stop.. you can get a 15" with a core i7 quad core, 16 Gb ram and a freakin gtx280 these days.
-
I'll mostly be playing Starcraft II and Diablo III on this laptop. Dragon Age and CS:S will be in there as well.
-
By the time those games come out your laptop will have since died from component failure after a long and happy life of playing other games from publishers that dont take over a decade to make a game. -
-
As long as the cpu doesn't bottle neck im sure it will run games amazingly for its size, even if their not maxed out. I play a lot of racing games by codemasters and a lot of the NFS series so im slightly worried about how they will perform..im sure this mini-beast can handle it though
-
i wont be playing anything on it, so thats why i am going for the lowest possible settings, its jsut something i can do my essays on and look good at the same time. POWAH!
-
BTW Lord of the Rings will be the main task of my m11x. the game scales wonderfully with all machines from my old EEE901 to my desktop in my sig. It will be nice to play on the go with max draw distance and med/high settings though!!!! super sweeeet!
will prolly play Sims3,Diablo III(when it makes it) Spore, Supreme Commander, Civ4. I'll prolly throw Crysis and MW on it just to show off
LoTRO is amazing and can be played on the lowest system to the highest and still tax the system. amazing graphics. amazing storyline. amazing gameplay... best MMORPG I've ever played -
this would be good for MMORPG players on the go too
-
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
This thing can play games? I just need something to take notes with at school. -
WoW! Raiding while on the road

In UK there was no WWAN option. However we know the port exists.
Can I buy a Mini PCI Express 3g card to get data? -
14" Core i5 + HD5650 = BC2 on the go perfect for what i need -
