Every post I read is about downclocking and upclocking. Also something about graphics driver issues. To be honest, I don't know any of these things or how to resolve them, but here is my question:

If you just received your Alienware, will these issues harm your laptop or is it just you wanting to speed up your laptop?

I should be getting my m17x in a few weeks and I obviously won't notice any problems because I am not a computer genius looking at every little detail. This should make my life a lot easier. :)

well, downclocking will make your laptop work slower, so that can't really hurt (though you're of course not getting what you paid for). overclocking, well, that's each to his own. it does improve performance, but it puts more stress on your parts and cooling system, so there's a risk that your computer may simply sieze up or cook itself. plus it voids the warranty (usually).
