iv heard somewhere from someone that Dell is trying to find a system board that will work without over hearing and over working itself for the M17x that can handle the I7 CPU

    Good explanation Moo.

I also remember reading somewhere about some negotiations between Nvidia and Intel on licensing an SLI chipset that works with the i7 chips.

    Your correct

you could expect one maybe jan-march after the 5870 is announced

since Dell is the official oem of ati ... No sense to refresh it now they would want to pull out all the stops in a refresh. New CPU and gpu :)

anything to expect in January with the M15x? If arrandale is introduced on Jan 7, any chances of that CPU making it into Alienware in January as well? On the edge of ordering the M15x, but thinking I would wait maybe no later than mid January just so I can get my order placed and shipped by Feb... =(

I see you're borrowing a similar config M15x that I'm looking at. What do you use it for? Any gaming? how's the 240m card? Quick opinion on it please, thanks!

what they need to do is fix current machines and delelop ways to use intel motherboards keep nvidia out the picture unless they stop using the g92 core and make ati use gddr5.

and amd needs to pitch in. we havent heard from them in a while

what I'd like to see from alienware is a mid range gaming machine. Something slim/sleek/portable but with some decent horsepower ala the hp envy series. I know it's not alienwares demographic but I think it'd be cool.

Gaming, general browsing & some development work. I've been playing Batman Arkham Asylam and it runs really well.. max settings and great framerates. The cooling is great also. I like this box so much I'll be buying one sometime in Jan when the refund comes through for the Dell Studio XPS 16 that I sent back
