I am wondering when people have usually had their issues with their laptops (HW or SW related)?

I purchased an ALX system about 3 years ago and I have never had issues and never used my 3 year warranty that I purchased since I've had it. I have only had to call AW up to get more water coolant.

So I am wondering if I should bother paying the extra money to get the 3 year warranty on the m15x. I'm pretty anal about caring for my "toys" so I'm thinking I should be ok, but wanted people's opinions before I pulled the trigger on that.

i would go for 2 year warranty. since the laptop is around $3000 you want the computer to last. i would rather be safe than sorry if i were you.

Sad to say I think most problems come only after a day or two. Once you get those solved its good to go. Of course I'm saying that from what I've seen around here on the forums

I took one year (and I hope I made a good choice). If I look at all the electronics I bought, they always last. Mostly problems rise because it was allready wrong from the start, or problems rise because people do something wrong themselves (like dropping it).

Off course it is always possible that something goes wrong indeed and then I just have bad luck. AW says in their promotions that 50% of the problems rise after the first year, which is true, but can also mean that 40% of the problems rise after ten years ;) (or they use really bad hardware).

I took the 1 year, I was told by Customer Support that you can purchase an extended warranty before your 1st year is over. So I'm prob. going to buy the extended warranty before the 1st year is over since I can't afford it right now

On desktops like the ALX system usually it's stable. Laptops are harder to troubleshoot, and the parts are a lot more expensive. It's safer with 3 years. But, you can always upgrade the warranty later on.

I haven't had a single problem with mine... I had games crashing on me but that was vista's fault and I fixed it in a few minutes.

Everything has run smooth since I got it. I got mine the 6th I believe and though I don't use it as much as my desktop still... that will change when I leave for the summer.

Although I'm upgrading my warranty in the fall to 3 years so it's still under warranty when I get done with school.
