This may well belong in the Alienware M15x sub forum but I thought it might be a general problem that M17x r2 owners may have faced too.

When I switch my tv on, plugged into hdmi, it appears as an extended desktop briefly before becoming a duplicate of my laptop screen. Its as if it remembers the setting (that I always have to re-select) but then gets overridden. Am I right in thinking its the OSD that is doing this due to the Fn+F6 button? Any way to disable this?

Would really appreciate any tips as its such a pain to have to re-select extended desktop in display settings. Pretty sure its not an nvidia driver issue either as I've checked the multi desktop settings there.

I guess nobody knows a solution for you, at least not yet.

I have had some stupid behavior with NVIDIA drivers remembering weird stuff like this when it should not. You've probably already tried DDU'ing and reinstalling known good drivers, but if you haven't that would be worth trying, if for no other reason than ruling it out.
