first I apologize for my English.
I want to change the graphics card for a GTX 280m, but do not really know where to buy it.
    Does Dell sell individual components?
On the internet I find nothing.

    Thanks

You can supposedly buy the card from Dell for $454.99. I don't know if they will actually sell it to you right now. This price is without a heat sink and fan, however.

Also, you could try asking Eurocom to see if their cards come with everything.

you'd still need to buy the fan and heatsink from Dell.

Are the fan and heatsink different for the 280s than the 260s?

If I understand the question, in a alienware m17x, which currently has a 260M GTX card, and wanted to upgrade to a 280M, but I will also have to change the fan and heatsink. Is not it the leading?

I wanted a single 280 and that's what I got :) Just want to make up some of the cost of the system.

Instead of upgrading your 260 to a 280 would there not be more benefit in installing a second 260 in SLI?

RJTech also offers the MXM 3.0 version of the GTX 280M. However, you will need to email them for a price quote as they do not have it up on their website. They are in short supply right now, but send them an email anyway and see what you can dig up.

Yeah I'm aware of that, but in his OP he states he wants to change his card.
So I assume that means change out the 260 and put in a 280.

I would suggest SLI and use whatever he can source cheapest a 260 0r a 280.

    ?

The truth, not whether to buy a 280 or put a 260 in sli.

It'll have everything but the fan. I believe the fan costs like $18 or something from Dell.

    So, $550 + $18 = $568. Don't think anyone can beat that.

    Poco a poco.

Muchas gracias por todo. Me alegra entender algo en este foro.

Witcher4360, i´m very happy to understand someone without the google translator xD.
It is not my strong English.
The truth is that you're absolutely right. Tomorrow i was going to call Dell to ask for a GTX260, I will come out cheaper.
I will take a bit to ask you some questions if you know:
    * Did you buy your laptop with this processor? I'm thinking to put the QX9300, but it seems very complicatedo.there is a movie of "The Moo" very useful. have you been of some use?
    * I have read that it is cheaper to buy a primary card and flash to bring it into slave or secondary. Do you know anything about this?
    * 4870 Cards? Mmmmm like to expect. I hope you do not have a price very expensive.

Bufff I have many questions and I do not want to be heavy xD.
    Little by little.

Thank you very much for everything. I am glad to understand something in this forum.

So as not find a firmware to flash the 260th ,I'll do best buy the 280 of Sleey, though it loses performance..
Witcher4360 are an artist. And everything has changed you? you are a machine xD
The QX9300, where you bought it? On ebay? is an ES?

Well I will keep working a bit xD.
See if someone else dares to write in Spanish xD

    PD Sorry Batboy.

    -------------------------------
is well on ebay and buy what is oem as much as I reached to alter the frequency is 2993 mhz. [/ LEFT]
what happens is that the voltages are too low to achieve a higher frequency hope Updating the BIOS with another increase the voltage a bit. and what card would have to wait a little unless you really need it [/ LEFT]
if you analyze things when amd cards. go on sale on ebay you will find many 260-280 gtx for sale and much cheaper if you look over your graphics performance increases the frequency of the cpu in the bios up your fsb. to 1250 at least you will reach a frequency of 2400 mhz. [/ LEFT] and if you want to increase the frequency of your nvidia card system bajate tools from here http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidi...l to or stronger than a 280:) [LEFT] [/ LEFT]

I will take your advice and I will wait, Which at present is not necessary.
Besides the DELL in Spain say they do not sell parts. I do not understand.
