I hope the New Breed is AW's ALX line up of the New Laptops. Maybe it's going to have the 9800MGTX SLI and Quad Core Extreme! Just a thought!

This was my thought.
stop stealing my thoughts! -
-
but hey, the beauty of the country is we're allowed to speculate and disagree -
i don't think we'll be seeing any completely new laptops... maybe some new colors or something. or a new desktop design, they've used Predator 2 for ages now.

The last Alienware mALX was a re-branded Clevo M590KE.
Alienware has since stopped using Clevo barebones, since the competition [with countless other Clevo vendors] is too much to make a good profit.
So they [AW] has since then made contracts with Arima and Quanta to have exclusive barebones to re-brand... and [since they are exclusive to AW]... they can charge whatever they want.
Too bad, Alienware priobably woul dhave loved to re-brand the world's fastest notebook.... Clevo D901C.
- Quad-core LGA775 CPU 65nm/45nm
- SLI 9800M GT / GTX
- up to 8GB DDR2-800
- 3 internal HDDs (also ready for SSDs) ... no Smart Bay BS -
to be honest i think even though its not the fastest notebook the m15x and m17x are some sexy machines... thats the story of the world you might not be the best but you gotta look good doing anything and your good to go
-
-
^^^how about 6 hours straight crysis without getting burn?
-
not on battery, but with the power supply, sure. with the new BIOS, the GPU never goes above 88°C.
-
The Clevo D901C has about 1.5-2.0 hours of battery if you are wondering.
Its still the most powerful mobile workstation around... lets see someone make a desktop that small with all of those powerful components in a 17" notebook frame that weighs 12 pounds. -
ok well i think you have to agree that its one ugly SOB and i agree that yes it is not the most powerful laptop in the world but seriously what is for long in another 6 months another one will come and another it doesnt matter but what will stay true is that my m17x is on sexy beast right now and will be 6 months from now
-
anyway.
just for kicks, i suppose the FragBox from Falcon Northwest might meet that limit with an 8800GT if i'm not mistaken. not entirely sure though.
-
isn't fragbox a desktop tower?
-
I think he is trying to answer my challenge about making a powerful system like the Clevo D901C and have it portable.... not going to happen.
... especially when he didnt include a WUXGA screen with dual-link DVI for WQXGA. -
-
wow
the testosterone levels are high on this forum...lol
ill just say you either like clevo or not, like AW or not.
the fact is, each laptop and/or company will have pros and cons. good and bad. great products and not so great products.
so while you may worship the clevo gophn, that does not mean it is the end all be all in the world of laptops...
have a great day! -
Haha... I am not taking this thread as serious as some others.
I just came to talk about the last mALX model... which was a Clevo.
I can care less about what notebook someone buys... as long as they did their research and have no regrets about their purchases. -
let not forget the M17X can have a smart bay battery. Not sure how much longer it would run.
-
It a battle of features between the Clevo and the Alienware notebooks. u_u Pretty much "my babe is better than yours" thing going on.
-
i know gophn...just funny how it seems clevo always ends up in a thread...
and honest, while i can appreciate ones attraction and dedication to the clevo, i am getting sick of it on the AW threads....
but clevo is not without issues as well....just look at the BS they are going thru with the gpu issues they have come into recently...i think it is funny... -
-
Clevo posts end up where ever there are comparisons with high-end notebooks... that is a reality.
In fact, I believe AW still has a plaque somewhere in their HQ that says that they are a Clevo partner. -
out of interest, Gophn, does your signature imply that your laptop has two optical disc drives?
-
correct.
The previous generation of Clevo D900K and D900T chassis supports [simultaneous] dual HDDs (RAID 0,1, or none) and dual Optical Drives. -
interesting. how do they open? one on each side?
-
true gophn....
whizzo: they have a post on the clevo forums about the ATI and nVidia GTS gpu's. seems clevo, sager, ATI, nVidia, all together, or one of them did not test the gpus to the extent they should have been before offering them. some i hear are delayed in shipping from the factory (gpu's) for install into the preordered systems. so to offset a few orders, Sager offered a free upgrade to the GT since there are issues with the GTS and ATI cards. while this may seem nice, it was not the best thing they could have done as it has caused a rucus among those that paid ahead of time the additional $$ to get the GT in the first place. you should go read it. -
one on top of the other.
Review of it here on NBR:

An malx would definetly be a good idea with a sexy paintjob like the last one (man was that thing cool) and or some more limited edition machines (like batman?) right now the lineup is a bit generic (not enough color, not enough etc)
-
EDIT: ryujin, could you please provide a link? i can't find the proper thread, and i don't want to miss this... -
hope this is done right....
....
let me know if i got that done right....
still learning this stuff on here.... -
hahaha that is an AWESOME way to open a thread....
-
hmmm, is anyone anticipating a mobile version of the Intel Skullcrusher?
seriously now. -
you mean "skull trail", right?
-
God I am tired of this childish act.. It like a freaken 6 year old in School going My dad better then your dad.
If the Clevo was like %15 to %25 faster I would be going cool. But something like %3 it like woopie do.
Plus both systems has there pros and cons. -
thanks whizzo!
