hi i'm new here to the forum and am about to go go to college so i'm buying a laptop. Alienware laptops(in my opinion)are the best out of all laptops for gaming and i'm having trouble deciding which one to buy as i have never used an alienware laptop.
Option 1:M17x with T9300 2.5GHz, 2gb of ram,Dual 512MB NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 8700M GT SLI Enabled.
Option 2:M15x with T9300 2.5GHz, 2gb of ram,512MB NVidia® GeForce Go 8800M GTX.
Option 3:M9750 with T7400 2.16GHz 4MB Cache 667MHz FSB, 2gb of ram, Dual 512MB Nvidia® GeForce Go 8700M GT - SLI Enabled.
does anyone have these specs and if so how do you find them?
any feed back is greatly appreciated.
thanks

also which,in your opinion would be the best option for gaming??thanks

MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
Option 2 will be the fastest by 50%-100%+ in most games because of the 8800M GTX. Plus, with SmartBay, BinaryGFX, and the m15x's size, it's the best choice to bring around campus.
-
yeah, option 2 would have the best performance. however, if you need absolute reliability, the m17x might be smarter.
-
is the 8800M GTX(not sli enabled) much faster than 8700M GT-sli enabled???

Yes. ten char

most definitely.

great thanks for the info..one last thing.with the m15x is it worth getting 1920x1200 resolution or is it not noticable and also is 15.4" a good size for gaming?(i mean is everything easy to see etc.?)

15" is a good size for gaming. What size screen are you used to gaming on? Don't get the 1920x1200 panel since the 8800M GTX won't be able to play most games too well in 1920x1200 if you want all of the eye candy and you won't see a noticeable quality difference on a 15" screen.
-
i'm used to 19" thats why some aspects of m17x and m9750 are slightly more appealing then again i could use hdmi into my 19" tv. also say i was playing call of duty 4 on m15x online wirelessly. signal stregnth about 85% 2mb broadband.would it lag at all or anything?? no prob if ya hav no idea!!lol
-
with that connection, you shouldn't encounter any lag, no.
-
m15x is sounding pretty great right now...when i was watchin some reviews and gamers use the m15x in youtube it showed that it was slightly flimsy...like the monitor was kind of weak and bendy. what do you think?
-
2.5Ghz
1GB ram (upgrade yourself)
HD (up to you)
8800GTX
1440x900 (don't get 1920x1200 for gaming) -
-
Mines actually not that bad. It only wobbles very very slightly on a flat surface. I've had my m15x for about a month now.
-
Like Ennea, I've also had my m15x for about a month now. No worries on the wobble here, as long as the surface it stays on is stable.
But I would suggest opening it with both hands though, one on each side of the monitor. Maybe it's just me being paranoid after seeing all the horror stories here in these forums -
Yea honestly even with the build quality issues I would still recommend a M15x. You are getting better performance than the other 2 laptops. If I had the choice I would go for the M15x even with the quality issues.
