I am going to order a m15x but I don't know which screen would be best. Will the 1920x1200 make the text to small? If I change the resolution on the 1920x1200 to a lower setting will it make things look blurry? Would I be better off with the 1440x900 display?

it depends on what you use the m15x for. if you want to mainly play games on it then get the 1440 x 900. with a lower native resolution your games can run at a higher fps. if you mainly photoshop and do video/picture editing then i would recommend the 1920 x 1200 for bigger amount of space. the font wont be too small on the 1920 x 1200 since you can always just change the dpi.

i would recommend the 1440 for better viewing angles, faster response time, brighter, better contrast ratio, takes less power, lighter

Yeah I wouldnt recommend 1920x1200 for 15.4" laptops. Although some people like it.. I find my 1680x1050 to be just right. I've never used 1440x900 before but I think that would be better. Changing native resolution will make it blurry.

I've got 1680x1050, and find it to be a very nice balance. However, as a moderate gamer, I would have preferred 1440x900. I'd recommend against the 1920x1200 for the m15x, because it will be very hard on the eyes, and to run games natively.

Go for the 1440. I'm currently using 1920 on a 17" screen. It's awesome, but stuff is definately small. On a 15.4" screen, things would probably be uncomfortably small. Plus, you'll get much better gaming performance at 1440 than 1920. (were talking 10-20 fps improvements)

How about with blu-ray movies? In my anticipation for my m17x i just cancelled for the m15x i already have a small library of flicks to watch :D Will blu-ray be better on 1440x900 or 1920x1200?

well obviously a blu-ray will be better on 1080p than 720p, but on a 15'' screen the difference will probably be negligible. You would want to hook up the lappy to atleast a 32'' tv to truly enjoy 1080p.
can someone do screen shots of 1920x1200 at native and one at something lower so we can see the difference (blurriness). I'm leaning towards the 1440x900 for mine, but still playing with the idea of 1920 for the matte finish.

I can't even tell 1080i from 720p on a 32" lcdtv, so you're definitely not going to be able to tell on a laptop screen. Most people don't realize this and they fall for the marketing hype.

1080i is suppose to be lower quality than 720p...

720p is suppose to have a clearer picture since in progressive you show one picture after another unlike interlaced.

It's like life - if you could reach it then take it.

Go for the best or you will regret not knowing what it would be like to own a 1200p resolution.

Your eyes will not be able to tell the difference between progressive and interposition.

If youdont got for the 1200p you will always wonder about it - just go for it at least you know you could watch movies in 1080.

Playing games? you could choose which screen mode to play in.

My personal preference is the 1200p display, but that's because I'm a high resolution junkie. The text is a bit small, but you can correct that by increasing the DPI.

What size and resolution screen are you using now?

Make that 1080p vs 720p. I can't tell the difference on 32" and 37" screens. I can only really see it past 40" as far as movies and HD content is concerned.

I agree with Broomcorn; you won't be able to notice the difference between 720p and 1080p on a 15 inch screen. You will notice it on a larger screen if you hook up your m15x via the HDMI port. But, even if you have the 1440x900 screen, you can output full HD res through the HDMI. I'd definitely go with the 1440x900 screen for your laptop. The text size is more reasonable, and your GPU doesn't have to work as hard to render graphics on the higher res. Then, if you want to utilize higher res, simply hook up an external monitor.

Looks like a good config, just keep in mind that a native res of 1920x1200 isn't going to give as much gaming longevity because you'll be forced to run some of the more taxing games in the near future at a lower resolution. If you play at a lower resolution, you'll interpolate which introduces a fuzzy factor to the image that some of us are more sensitive to than others. That's why I always prefer running my games at native res which is easier to do at 1440x900 than 1920x1200. Anway, just something to be aware of. Hope you enjoy it.

Good choice with 1200p the lower res is like a 2 stroke engine inside your Alienware laptop - it just aint cool.

You got to keep up with teh fashion :)

Like with everything, is a matter of taste...
I've had a 1660X1100 (or whatever) on a M1530 and it was too much for me.
Went back to the 1440x900 and I can only say I like it much better... And added bonus, I can run all games at LCD's native resolution.

1920x1200 really isn't meant for a 15". I have it on my 24" and it's fine. but it's much larger of course. I couldn't see putting it on a 15" screen, I really can't. Plus I prefer the glossy screen.

Tyronne, honestly... how many times do you need to post your opinion on the same thread? We all know, by now, that you hate... no love... no hate... no love... no hate... love... everything on your M15x. You posted by now that you love the 120DPI screen, on this same thread, at least 3 times. We got the message.
If you want to be helpful and inform people, try and think twice before you post. That would only help all of us...
    Cheers.

upscaling games has a sim effect to AA.. but a loss of texture quality. so i would opt for the 1200p still

also some times in a FPS all u see of a player is a line of pixels ... for multiplayer gaming the highest resolution is always best.
