I realize that the stocked laptop nvidia driver that Alienware supports are pretty old, buggy and bad. So i was wondering which laptop nvidia graphic driver is stable for my rig.

    I got alienware m15x with
    Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T9300 @ 2.5GHZ, 2.5GHZ
    4.00 GB of DDR2 800 RAM
    Geforce 9800M GT 512MB
I update the motherboard Bios that solves the overheating problem (partially..)

    please help..

the latest ones from nvidia. there is a guide to getting them to install on your computer. It requires you do download driver modder to get them to work. do a search on it.

technically, nvidia offers it's own drivers for mobile systems now. 179.28, get 'em on nvidia's homepage. if you want the absolute newest driver, go to laptopvideo2go.com, and download 185.20 (or whatever is newest). be sure to follow the proper instructions, and don't forget the modded .inf.

the mobile version is a piece of s***. Don't install it unless you want official support from nvidia and don't care about gaming.

If you want to game, go to laptopvideo2go.com and install the latest driver (185.20)

Did you experience the driver which came with your system as bad and buggy?

If you are just assuming it is bad and buggy because it's not the latest driver out there, consider trying the driver for a while first.

As whizzo suggests, you can get the latest mobile drivers from the nvidia website, they're not beta and should be stable.

If you are feeling adventurous or if you have problems with those drivers, try the other drivers he suggests, those from laptopvideo2go.com.

And if you want to read about the 185.20 drivers you can download there, consider checking out their forums. There's a thread there discussing those drivers. I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for there.

    Good luck ;)

I found that DOX's 180.48 is the most performant and stable driver for now.

I have not found anything buggy about 185.20 and they have run beautifully on my system. In fact, from the default drivers I got from Alienware (sorry didn't check the number) I noticed a good 5-7 fps gain in a few games of mine with the new drivers (Company of Hereoes, Fallout 3, Devil May Cry 4) so you should definitely try them out in my opinion
