Hi,
I'm from Ireland and there's a website called adverts.ie & there are ppl selling Alienware machines new and old. I'm a noob when it comes to specs so could someone check out the link below and let me know which ok'd Alienware would be the best for me to get? I'm looking for something that is the best for speccing up ie something that's not too old that I can future proof with the latest graphics cards etc etc

Which would be the best for playing current games?

Probably none. Afaik, these models are pretty old and as such you will have a hard time upgrading your cpu/gpu, as you may exceed wattage limitations or your chipset just would not support them.
You may do better getting a new alienware, or a latest model from an outlet. -

This isn't the right section for this, but personally I wouldn't touch any of those. The prices you're seeing are high to say the least and the performance from everything I saw that's not already sold is going to be very sub par except for the m17x. That is the m17xr1 and not worth anywhere near 1800 pounds. Check on here, there are a lot better deals, even some in other countries if shipping is the problem. Or as denogun mentioned outlet or new depending on your budget, but by all means nothing on that site. Good luck.

Cheers, I feel like I just dodged a bullet. Dell Ireland doesn't have an outlet store and not sure of any other Irish or UK outlets but I'll have a look. If I was searching for an older Alienware model what model should I look for?
Can't buy a new one at the moment as I'm throwing all my spare cash into my eBay store. Currently I have a MacBook Pro so I might see if I can trade that with someone selling a laptop. -
well there is a m17-R1 at 1700 with an extreme cpu and cfx cards the laptop could technicaly play the lastes games with no issue but the price seem high for a non 4850 equiped one and for just 200 more you could get a stock m17x-r2 wich would have a similar performance

If I spend 1700 I'd nearly wait a bit more and max it out to 3000. That's why I was looking to get an older model so that every few weeks I could upgrade it a bit more but don't know which model to get. Maybe I'm better off waiting. I have a guy who's thinking about buying my MacBook Pro for 900.

it's because older then the m17 the other alienware models are EOL and won't really drive you far the m9750 could still be used for gaming today but that require getting a hold of the m17's 3870 and putting them in there and doing so is all but cheape and simple

What about this one? Is this any good?
Alienware M17x: Find it at Buy and Sell
Basically, I'm looking for something I can upgrade myself as time goes by. Can I upgrade everything on this or are some parts not upgradeable? Can the screen be upgraded to an RGB LED, processor be upgraded to an i7 etc etc. I might be able to trade my MacBook Pro off the price. -
the screen can be upgraded but in after market the screen might cost you up to 1k and yes it can be upgraded to I7 also it does not tell wich GPU it's using
Which of these is good for gaming?
