HELP ME GAN!!!
give me your best advice -
M15x is not worth it if you get close to minimum specs. I'd suggest getting the G73 because of it's bang for the buck and the budget your on.
The G73 is several times better than the M15x at the 1.2k mark, but once you get close to 2k, your better off with the M15x.
Edit: What will you be doing with it? -
btw.. its better for you to get the asus IMHO for that buck
that buck will make m15x looks lame despite its shiny outfit
m11x is not bad either, you will get a decent configuration -
The problem with Asus is their mail-in support. You can be without your system for up to a month easily for something as simple as a keyboard replacement (happened to me).
One of my M15x systems needed a new keyboard and DVD drive. Dell overnight'ed them to me and I installed it myself the next day. Of course they offered to send a tech if needed. -
people be hatin on a low specced m15x but it makes sense. If you are contemplating an m11x you can get an m15x with a 5730 and a i5-540 for only a few hundred more dollars then an i7 m11x and you will have a more powerful graphics card and more powerful processor in the m15x you should also be able to get close to 4 hour battery life with the proper settings on this version since you will be using 40+ watts less then a 5850 with a quad core under load. It makes a lot of sense to go this way instead of the m11x. Just be rational. You will also get a nicer screen and an optical drive. The alien fx lighting is a little nicer as well. More ports. it makes sense to spend a few hundred more dollars for a much more capable system that will still be very portable and give decent battery life.

thanks guys
I thought I would collect more money to buy a medium setting of the m15x ..
I already fell in love with the lighting Alienware .. -
Gan means skipper
you would not understand what I mean
Forget it.. -
smart choice. Get a lower specced m15x that will still pwn the m11x and only cost a few hundred more dollars.

You can have both, like I did if you're patient enough and save your money. My M11X is for traveling, and the M15X is my desktop replacement.
-
If you are gong to get 2 laptops one for home use and one for travelling the m17x is a far superior stay at home desktop replacement. If you are going to have an m11x for your portable use then go with an m17x for your stay at home. Much more power and more room for cool things like raid HDD and dual graphics.
-
The M15X does fine for what I need, plus with my military discounts/EPP it was a good deal.
-
True, if funds restrict it the m15x can hold up well as a desktop replacement. Just much nicer to have an m17x if you are never gonna move it.
-
I don't have much money guys..
m11x or m15x?
i can't buy both.. -
-
Well are you gona be traveling a lot with it? Thats a simple question. And the M15x is really lame on the go, it really is a desktop replacement! I bought it as a desktop replacement that I can move around from time to time (when I go at the hotel or at my friend's..) but I'm thinking about getting a M11x and do like mb67! I like the ultra-mobility of the M11x, plus the ability of playing on the go!

Until today I had both the M15x and the M11x, I bought the 15 before buying the 11 and I had to get the 11 because the 15 was just far too big to commute with.
I have since sold the m15x (I was outside the Dell returns date) and I couldn't be happier with the m11x (su7300 @ 1.73 with 8gb of ram). I would be happier if I could get Win 2008 R2 installed and working correctly (it installs but my 3g USB dongle doesn't work correctly due to driver issues where as my 2510p with 2008r2 and the 3g dongle work perfectly (infact I am posting from the 2510p 2008r2 machine now).
All in all I guess it depends on whether you are going to be commuting with the laptop at all, if not then go for the m15x. -
I got the M15x for university and home its well worth the money even at medium spec compared to the M11x. I have to admit taking to uni every day can be a B**ch however get yourself a good bag and carry it every day you tend to get used to the weight of it. I got myself the alienware orion bag which is great to carry the laptop in.

it depends on what you intend the use to be
i got the m11x because i want to play games and have portability, i'm not a hardcore gamer so i have no problem turning some settings down. if your primary concern is power and high frame rates for games then go with the m15x; if you also want portability then go with the m11x. the m15x weighs more like a 17" notebook from my limited experience with one but no doubt higher frame rates in games and if you go for the m15x definitely save up a go for the higher end 5850 or GTX 260M. if you do go for the m11x i'd recommend getting the core i7 processor -

If you don't care about portability, then it's a very simple decision-The M15x.
I would recommend you first set your budget. Then configure both with that budget, and post here what specs you're getting. I did the same thing when deciding between the M15x and M17x. In the end, the specs I was getting for the M17x for the same pricepoint as the M15x (see the one in my sig) were just not worth it.
One thing you should keep in mind is that, remember M15x has MUCH better build quality and screen. So if you like both specs for the budget you have, then you might want to start considering factors like build quality, battery life, screen, etc.
Which one, AW m11x or m15x??
