Finally received my replacement & my goodness what a suprise.
A fully upgraded R2 system!!!
![]()
It's amazing fast, blows my R1 out of the water.
I was skeptical when I received my initial specs, mainly because I saw that I had been upgraded to a 920XM instead of the 720QM that I originally requested. So I never posted anything here about what I saw. But sure enough here it is. Replacement specs are listed in my signature.
Time to give this freaking awesome RGB screen a little of the Joker tweak to see if I can make it look even better...gonna be hard because it's great right now.![]()
One question though, I did not receive a return label to ship my old system back....do I need to get one from FedEx or should I just email Dell & ask them?
-
-
I'd keep the system.
-
Congrats on the awesome replacement! Unless they ask for the R1 back or send you a label, I'd hold on to it.
-
OOhh I wish they would just forget about it since it is a POS....I'll yank that other 256 SSD out & reformat that baby in here. 500GB in SSD OH YEAH!!
*Has that ever happened before Joker??? To let users keep the old system? -
just a tip, I wouldn't be running around announcing this sort of stuff on an open forum.
-
I have done nothing wrong. I simply stated that I received my replacement that was sent to me from Dell.
* Just a little tip to you...I've already emailed my tech & told him I needed to know what to do with the R1. If he tells me to keep it, I'll keep it. If he tells me he'll send me a label, I'll return it when I receive the label. -
you totally should of just said nothing about not receiving a return label and then just waited 30 days if nothing happens sell that puppy on ebay and pocket the money thats what i would of done
-
-
Yeah right like they'll say "keep it"... lol....
-
-
They don't have a use for it, I don't see why not to let you keep it.
-
Congrats on your system man! Great specs. Enjoy!

I'm still posting with my 1530, 1 month after I got my replacement... why? 3 years of hassle. And when they're replacing my laptop, they cancel my latest-revision 1640, and give me a "new one" with an ATi 3670, screw them.
They got nothing on me.
I have 2 laptops now. -
Friend of mine had a Dell XPS laptop a couple years ago with the advanced accidental warranty. He was surfing the web and stuff lying on the couch and fell asleep and woke to the crash of this laptop hitting the floor. It landed on the corner of the LCD and broke it, he called Dell. They asked if he would like a tech sent with the LCD or if he would replace it. He said "I can replace the LCD myself". 3 Days later Purolator showed up with a box, he signed for it. He was surprised it was so big and heavy for a LCD. When he opened it he realized they sent him a whole new Laptop, and it actually had a larger HDD and more RAM. He called Dell the next day and asked what he should do with the broken parts since he had no return label. Dell told him they don't need the broken parts back and he could just dispose of them. He then connected his old broken XPS to a keyboard and mouse, connected it to a LCD and laid it on top of the laptop with in closed and used it as a desktop until this day it still works. So they may not want the R1 back.

I love this thread, keep us posted man!
I want to know if a Dell guy dares say "meh, keep it, we got bling bling"
-
Besides, you got a 920-XM. I'd hardly call it a mistake, more like compensation for your headaches with the R1. Enjoy the system. -
and congrats m8 -

RGB...way better than what I expected. My wife's first words were "my god it's bright". It is in-cred-i-ble!! Avatar in blu ray is awesome on it. I am extremely pleased with the R2. -
Just received an email from my tech....He didn't have instructions for me to return it, so he said I should contact the Care Dept to see what they want me to do. I'll keep everyone posted.
***UPDATE***
Just spoke to the customer care dept & they advised that I would have to return the system otherwise an additional charge could be placed on my account. UPS will come by & pick it up from my office tomorrow. -

@OP: You welcome!
Yeah, I think that was the smartest thing to do at this point. I mean the problem with these big companies is there are so many layers to go through from the guy who does something on a computer in their system that the replacement has been sent, to you who are actually receiving it. If someone screws up in this chain... no one knows who did it... and its very easy for them to just charge you. Like hey we never got the system, bam. It will take forever to prove who did what at the end.
I had something similar happened to me, with the difference that idiots actually delivered the item I ordered (it was a bed mattress ordered from Sears) to the wrong address, the guy kept it (lol...?) they charged me for it and didn't want to give a refund. I spent a month dealing with their customer service. And believe me.... Dell Customer Service... they are like physics PhDs compared to these guys. Luckily, I contacted my bank which had really pro customer care, the guy gave me "off the record" advice what to do... and the same Sunday by noon I had all my money back in my account. -
Normally, the return shipping label will arrive a few days latter on its own.
But since UPS is picking it up, make sure you have a receipt with tracking number.
Check your Dell online account. Make sure a few days after Dell received it, they credit back the same amount of the replacement. -
