So using the tool GPU-z, it tells me my graphics cards Default GPU clock speed is 550MHz and Default Memory clock speed is 888MHz, but when I check the real time stats, my graphics cards clock and memory speeds are running at only 250.0MHz and 200MHz. Why is it doing this? And no stealth mode is not on. This test was ran while i was doing nothing on my laptop liking no gaming or intesive graphics hungry applications.

It downclocks itself while you are doing nothing graphically intense to save power and lifespan.

Try booting up a game/program and see your clocks shoot up :).

They throttle back when not underload in order to conserve power. No need for them to run at max clock when it's unneccessary. Just as DHC stated

if it was running at 550mhz and 888mhz all the time, your computer would stop work in a few years. on top of that, the fans would be running at full blast non-stop to keep the gpu's from overheating. did you honestly think the gpu only got hot because it was superficially displaying something on the screen? it will get hot any time it is running at its highest clock speeds.
