Just for kicks, I thought I'd create this thread on why we love Alienware so much![]()
I love Alienware because life is just better with them. Period.
-
The only thing I will miss about my M17x is the lighted keyboard. So nice at night with dim lights. Otherwise they can have their mind-control device back just leave me my mini lightshow. Wait that's how they're sending subliminal messages ... in the pretty lights.
-
1. Best build quality of any gaming laptop ever made (M15x/M17x).
2. Fastest dual card machine (M17x).
3. RGB LED in the M17x.
4. MXM 3.0b in both machines - not constrained by proprietary cards like some brands..ahem.
5. Dell/AW reps that are easily accessible on these forums.
6. Quick warranty turn around for home service and/or user replaceable. Just ask Mandrake how much he loves Asus warranty.
7. Alienware has the best looking notebooks of any brand.
I could go on and on... -
)
2. +1 (and hopefully (now) the fastest single gpu (ati 5870) notebook as well!)
3. +1
4. +1 (unfortunately not the M11x - but you can't have everything... yet! lol)
5. +1
6. +1
7. +1 ( entire notebook/desktop lineup, including the sweet M11x!)
-
I would add:
8. The best portable sub-15" laptop (m11x).
9. Because when the hard drive works, the Alien head is blinking its eyes... -
10. awesome lighting setups!
11. giving us immunity from the alien invasion in 2012
12. METAL
13. Eye catching, appealing aesthetics
14. Bragging rights! -
What no one mentioned the Free Hat??
-
Great design
Latest technology
Excellent cooling
AlienFX keyboard
BRAGGING RIGHTS!
Probably the best feature, overclocking capabilities, even in the m11x -
-
And the user manual that is better than my car's.
-
Haha so true. -
-
They look like they could launch nukes with the right BIOS upgrade, you can customize everything on it, metal frame, sweet lights, blu-ray player, i7 processor, and gives you a nice workout carrying it around.
-
The warranty is what does it for me. I can't believe how good the at-home-service is. I'm never buying another ASUS laptop ever again.
-
A solid (incredibly solid) aluminum body
Cooling that works very well
It comes in all black, and the colors are anodized, not paint.
RGB LED screen that is probably one of the top 5 screens in the industry @ 17"
I've used the service and they've come TO ME to fix my machine within 48 hours of the service call placement. No other vendor gives you a new machine to replace a bad one. And in home service is the icing on the cake, imo.
Class A design
Class A performance
The machine is a work of art that you are proud to show off.
These plus all the points above (agreed with all the prior posts). -
No. 55) Im the only one on campus with this laptop
-
I love my m11x, it's quality is unmatched and it's like a desktop you can take anywhere! The 13" MacBook(pro) sucks compared to this machine!
E:when people first see it they react like this;
when it's closed: nice laptop!
when I open it: wow looks cool!
When I push the power button: ooh nice colors!
When it's booted: wow that was fast!
When I play a game: my desktop isn't able to do that!
After 3 hours of gaming: where's the power cable? -
-
ALSO!
When you have an amazing warranty with them....
You receive four brand new M17x's that keep upgrading themself as they keep breaking lol.
Waiting for new one =D -
I like alienware because of the high level of customization. And no not just the lights on the system or color. You can configure the system in multiple ways and change out parts on it down the road in multiple ways, and I really like the stealth mode actually, at least on my old school m15x, even with it's hinge issues and possible GPU burnout, I loved that system to death and still have/use the system even with a m17x-r2.

Blistering Fast Laptop!!! Nothing touches it

that hat is fugly, be glad you didn't get it man. you'll probably throw it out anyways, lol.
i love alienware because it so cheap and affordable........lol -
Or because my computer probably worth more than my car! 8D -
My favorite thing about owning an Alienware is walking into a room with people who at least know something about computers, and setting down your machine and opening it up with the glowing alien head on the front. Most, if not all heads turn at that moment.
I see it as owning a very fancy, fast car. You could get the same speed in buying a cheaper car, but it's just not as appealing, and people don't stare. -
-
Yes i agree personal preference.
-
I just think alienware are like the ferrari of laptops. yeah its expensive, yeah you buy multiple laptops with this price. It's like comparing a ford to a ferrari when you compare other brands to alienware kakakak
-
I love how you can upgrade the Alienware's like a desktop!
-
It's all about build quality and apperance with Alienware. I wasn't too fussed with their earlier models and only started to take notice when the M17x arrived.. they've really got me hooked with their current lineup of ostentatious designs.

Nice design especially the 1920x1200 screen and that is simply just that. Sadly nothing else to add to this thread... For the moment...
-
Also I like reading posts on forums that say " I overclocked my Alienware to 12Ghz and the CPU melted - please help me as Alienware tech support are rubbish!!"
)

Honestly I have to admit I wouldn't have given alienware a second look without dell buying them and this crazy 16:9 screen craze going around. The reason I went with the m17x is that it is the cheapest 17in that has a WUXGA screen and the build quality that is similar to my dell and thinkpad, has a numpad and exact same keyboard style as my current dell. Granted I could have gotten a little more and a desktop CPU going with a sager, but then I would be stuck with an nvidia GPU, crappy designed numpad and from what I hear cheap plastic build. For the price I it was a no brainer. Granted I was originally looking at the precision m6500, but to get a comparable model to what my m17x will have I would have spent a ton more and had a weaker workstation card (no need for one of these).

well, I hate to tell you this, but an Alienware is going to attract more attention than most other laptops. You can turn off all LEDs, that will be less distracting.

Lethal Lottery Notebook Betrayer
The M11X!
1)They have created a sub 15" laptop that actually is powerful.
2) The design, lights, durability, form factor etc
3)AW did not cheap out on the screen res, by comparison a MBP has a 2" larger screen and has smaller res than the 11.6" m11x!!!
4) worthless cloth sleeve included
5) warranties are now transferable
6)more, but it's early. -

Turn off the "ALIENWARE" LED, and most people won't even know its an Alienware. -
Did someone mentioned that is almost unique ?, is not like those laptops Model: 3veryB0dy-HAS-1; people look at them and they say: Oh God !!, whats that !!; in some place where they use to write down your Laptop Serial number just for have a record about which PC come in and out to the office to avoid robbing, you can pass just showing this to the guards Noobs eyes, claiming: Did you see another laptop like this on your entire life ?, dont make me loose time, i gotta go now !
-
"4) worthless cloth sleeve included"
I love the cloth sleeves! Always put it on prior to placing in backpack. Owned mine since August and looks like the day I received it...thanks to the sleeve!!!
and my reason in addition to all those listed...

We love Alienware because they were the first ones to invent flying laptops before flying cars came out, it's the only laptop that can warm your coffee to a perfect 98.7 degrees simply by leaving it on the touchpad, and it's subtle, yet compelling glow makes one get all shiny eyed like some Japanese anime. I'm pretty sure the m21x is going to have a fourth option for it's case- adamantium. lol I kid of course. I think it's just plain cool.
-
Try xps m1330, not only can you warm the coffee - you can evaporate it.
-
I love alienware because there is too much saturation the market for "bargain basement" laptop computers and it becomes more and more difficult to stand out and own a quality product.
As businesses shift and cater only to the mass market average consumers that can only afford paying $2 for a "gaming" laptop, the high end gets left out to dry. Alienware is one of the remaining few companies that offer a truly quality high end product.
Asus - Cheap plastic, poor warranty support by comparison
HP - Not powerful enough, cheap plastic, poor warranty support by comparison
Clevo - Cheap plastic, poor warranty support by comparison
.....no gamer looks to Apple for the most powerful gaming rig whether mobile or desktop. I also went to a firm that uses photoshop, etc for marketing and professional photos....the apple laptop is used only for mobility (emails, docs, etc) and in the workroom are all Alienware desktops that do the real work with Photoshop...then there is an Alienware in the server room that does the rendering.
One of a kind. Alienware. -
-
Most of us here do love our Alienware, I see that you had problems with yours and this is sad to hear, although maybe you should create a thread about "How Alienware stole my money and my childhood's dreams".. I'd be interested to see why is your computer so bad!
Besides, I sure did look cool with that laptop while traveling, but damn it's huge, heavy and the battery life is "meh" (should have bought the 9cell I know.). But the look on my friends' faces when I took it off my bag and started playing MW2 in a random internet café was totally worth it -
i like the manual and the sticker it came with haha
bragging rights
and the lights -
stuck the sticker on my old dell inspiron 5100 over the dell logo looks awesome but doesn't match my new Alienwares performance at all
Why we love Alienware!
