Mates looking to sell me a stick of Corsair 4GB stick of 1333MHz DDR3 SODIMM.

Will it work in my M11X by dropping to 800MHz?

    Thanks

Thanks, is it also OK to have the 4GB 1333 in one slot and the standard 2GB 1066 in the other?

you can put 1333 in there but M11x will still only use 800mhz so it will be a waste.

Well, it will work, but it will not run at 1333. Thus, make yourself a favour and buy the 1066 if they are cheaper.

Yes, 4GB + 2Gb will work fine. Usually they are clocked to the slowest RAM

Its only because he's got a stick to sell me cheap otherwise I'd just buy new 1066 ones.

I thought the OC in BIOS was for the CPU, not the RAM, or does it effect both? Not into PC OC'ing myself (lack of knowledge)

    Thanks for all the replies.

The best ram to put in the M11x would be the Kingston HyperX DDR3 1066 Cas 5 Non-XMP ram

That will be best performance. With a processor this weak I fail to see why you would even need more than 4 GB ram (just my opinion on that last part)

With most computers upping the Front Side Bus speed will also increase the clockspeed on the ram. However, the M11x seems to reduce the ratio of ram speed to FSB speed, so that even when you overcock it it stays at 800Mhz. (although, this could be a reporting error like what most people think the 1.6Ghz vs 1.73Ghz OC is)
