I know a big hurricane is heading to Florida and was wondering if you think that they will close headquarters and delay everything? Also is it true that XP keeps the laptop cooler because it uses less power?

P.S. Chaz I never posted this question please dont ban me.

i know you are getting excited waiting for your new laptop but asking questions llike this are going to be a pure guess by everyone else still waiting.
the only way you will get a true answer is to ring alienware tomorrow.

    1. bad weather could cause delays - unknown if they decide to close ops.
    2. holiday weekend (monday), they may be closed.
    3. xp - not sure if it does or not.
    4. why do you always get and say your worried?

parts are definitely all from either china or taiwan. question is where they're assembled. and i wouldn't want to put money down either way.

i think if it was assembled in china, there would be a greater shipping fee for each single unit since each is unique in the ordering.
i bet assembly in florida, and i heard they had a location in either austria or australia....not sure on those though...

If it was assembled in China, I would assume I would have had to pay a duty tax for mine. But since it was assembled in the states, the NAFTA agreement kicks in and I avoided that tax.

what he said...and the fact of shipping...the cost to ship from china would be far greater then it is currently...
plus tax, duty, insurance, and not to mention they would require the paperwork to be attached to the shipping box....

    tax would be more.
besides, the casing could be made in china, as other parts could be as well.
do you have nothing to say about the import taxes, fees, and associated labels required for overseas shipments, not to mention again the additional fees for overseas shipping?

I don't really think it's a big deal. It's not crap because it came from China. It's likely the m15x was assembled in the US.

Yes they ship from Miami and as a Florida resident... I have to tell you that if an area gets hit or is -expected- to get hit, they WILL stop the trucks from going. However, the current hurricane shouldn't delay shipments.... because it's hitting MAYBE some of the panhandle.

Oh and they don't usually stop much for tropical storms seeing as there is one following the current hurricane. But if the truck is expected to go through an affected area... add one or two days onto your shipment.

Package is shipped from florida... I don't have any doubts that some of the parts are manufactured in china/elsewhere though.

"Designed" and "made" are not synonymous. The parts may have been made in China but the design of the laptop itself has been done in Florida. Just think of it as them giving their blueprints to the m15x to other facilities so they too can build the notebook. The laptop could have been built in Ireland, but the design of it still originated from Florida, while the parts, well, made in china.

I agree with Oceanus. Crap My car made in Sweden and my last car was a datsun. Dang you have to love a Saab 900 se turbo or a 280zx turbo. Both had about 200hp.

People listen it dont matter where the parts came from what matter is How the machine is running.

Our manufacturing facility is located in Miami, FL and all US/Canadian orders ship from here.

When a hurricane or tropical storm is deemed as a warning, and not a watch, you can expect for facilities to be closed until the storm has passed. This is common with all businesses and companies in a time of unruly weather. Production always resumes to normal when a storm has passed.
