Hi all..
First off, my first post in here...
I have searched the topic, and can't find anything more than 1 post, stating that Win7 & Command Center is not compatible..
I have a just purchased a M15X with Win7 installed, and when I access the Command Center, the only thing available is FX (The Lights thing), but the Aliensense facial recognition is working fine when logging in, and so forth...??
When I try to start up the Aliensense from the Tray Icon, it states following...
Quote
"Sorry The application AlienSense can not be launched. Would you like to continue loading Command Center?"
Quote End
Could some kind soul please explain a noob like me, how the Aliensense program is working, and I might add, surprisingly good, but it can't be accessed..?
Another thing that bothers me, is how to access the "My Hive" on AW hp, have tried to create a User, but it denies me access, on grounds of missing account number...??
Best Regards
Brian

my Hive is only for older Alienware systems: all web support for your M15 is through the Dell site.
There are those who say that command centre and win7 are not compatible: not so in my experience. Update the program from the Dell site and re-install: all aspects do work in win7, but there is some tweaking to do in terms of sequencing and getting your various pieces of software to place nice with each other.
Sorry to not be more definitive, but I found it to be a trial and error thing depending upon the configuration and what you have loading and when, so much so that any guides are just that, guides -- taking a little time to sort out start programs and stuff does reconcile things. -
Thanks for your reply, I've now tried the Dell Drivers page, and it works like ~love~...
The Download center is driving me up a wall, tried installing the .net 3.5, and its still not working, any tips on how to get the center to work for you, and not against you...? -
I couldn't get any versions of .net to properly install on mine including 3.5 sp1
-
Me neither, tried all day eysterday, now I have installed a Driver Detective, and finally had my drivers updated...
DELL aught to be ashamed of themselves, crappy job on the Download Center.... -
I have the exact same problem, it's really annoying!

Just received my Alienware M15X from Dell, Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.
I also get this error message when double-clicking on the AlienSense icon in the Systray (or right-clicking and selecting Configure AlienSense):
I followed the instructions here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=4423732&postcount=4 but no success.
Line 4 is "Install the Webcam Driver Update" but I can't seem to find that anywhere. Not sure if that matters for this problem though?
The webcam works fine and so does "face login" but from what I understand, there are more options available in AlienSense than just the FX section with the colors and all that.
I can access the Command Center but there's only FX available there.
Sorry for double-posting any earlier input in this thread but I though it'd be better than creating a new thread. Hope you can help. -
Same prob here..
running m17x r1.
installed win 7 home premium 64-bit clean
only things showing in command center are Fx and Sense
I read on the alienware site how to do it on the m17x so I won't retalk it here. The info is in a knowledge base article entitled,
"What is the correct procedure to reinstall the Alienware Command Center on the Area -51 m17x?"
I have tried several ways of installing but I've run out of time for messing with it. I have to get to video editing so I can pay for this machine..
Sorry for the rant. I may get time in the coming weeks.
Windows 7 & Command Center compability...
