    Yes.

So, I called tech support with two questions. First, I asked if they even tested my HDMI audio output. They did not. Then, I asked what else I could try. The rep was very helpful and connected to my laptop. What he discovered was the audio manager was not recognizing my HDMI port, which means I have to send it back, again, for repairs. :(

I just tested mine yesterday and worked like a charm.

FYI those in Canada looking for a great HDMI cable deal check out NCIX.com I got a 25' Ngear Cable for 27 bucks. Works awesome. Sound and video off the M15x

The interesting question is not whether or not it outputs sound, but whether it passes 5.1 surround (DTS/Dolby Digital) digital sound though to an external receiver for proper decoding.

Have you connected the HDMI cable to an external receiver and die the receiver recognize the signal as multi-channel digital sound?

Otherwise you might as well use the Toslink adapter or even jack...

i think the problem with the audio not working is that on hdtv's especially the one i have you have to specify where the audio is coming from. I just helped my friend hook up his hdtv and when we used the hdmi cable the audio was missing but the picture worked great. Assuming the worst we thought something was wrong with the cable that it might not carry audio. The solution was to change the audio output setting in the tv menu to hdmi digital and it worked. Just because you plug in the hdmi cable doesnt mean its going to work you have to change the audio settings in the tv and the laptop. Hope this helps ppl, hdmi should carry both audio and video i never heard of it not carrying audio unless its disabled somehow.
