So I am now on my 5th! AW laptop (godbless extended warranties) Long story short, the last two have ATI 48xx cards and they wont wake up. They finaly sent me a brand new one...and It is having the exacte same issue. I do not want a new replacement. Please please help me. (excuse my spelling google seems to not like me anymore)

Oh yea the problem is not 100% the same, on the last one I could just press the sleep button and wake it up again and it would be fine, this one it hangs when I re-wake it up.
I am almost 100% sure this is an ATI driver issue.
I tried the newest driver on the Old system, not this one.

Not familiar with 4870s, but my 5870's have the same issue with official ATI drivers, if you want to make sure that everything works, you might have to use the Dell drivers, or look over that issue if you are dependent on new graphic drivers. Also later this week, if as promised, Dell should release new stable ati drivers.

i dont know why you would want to try dell drivers.

i have dual 4870s. i formatted my laptop and installed the 4870 drivers from dell's website yesterday. upon closing the lid and letting the computer go to sleep, and then opening the lid back up, the system just stays on a blank screen where all you can see is the mouse pointer, so it's obviously a flaw in the 4870 dell drivers.

10.7 has even bigger sleep issues, at least for me.

right now I'm using 10.5 drivers. I get BSODs from time to time, and I'm thinking about asking for a gpu exchange, but i don't have any wake from sleep issues with these drivers.
