After a few weeks of selling junk around the house, I finally took the plunge and ordered my new m15x! I hope this time around, as the original owner of an Alienware machine my CS experience will be better. As far as laptop quality, things sound really good so far, seeing as how no one seems to have any critical issues :D As far as tracking my order, I got my confirmation email but how do I see what phase its in?

    P.S. - should be here by 11/10/09!!! (sounds really quick :p )
P.P.S. - Unboxing vid + review will follow!
P.P.P.S. - specs will be in my sig!!!

Thanks! Nah im from the USA , but is 1333 really a waste  ? I figured, higher clock speed = more performance, right? I guess it cant hurt my performance but it would have been nice to see a comparison between the 2 clock speeds via some benchmarks. When I get mine I will benchmark it and maybe if someone has a similar rig we can see if there is a difference?

It is not that it is a waste but rather it costs a boatload and you probably won't notice a difference :)

Ah gotcha, yeah I thought Alienware was just trying to scam me when I looked at the 8gb option, but after checking NewEgg my jaw dropped! The 1333 RAM is absurdly expensive >.<

Sick! Found where on the order page it shows my phase and it changed from pending to "In Production" so that can only be a good sign :) . So 2 weeks seems like a pretty quick delivery time, anyone ever get theres in like a week or so? Also, is the stuttering issue with the m17x also present on the m15x?

1333Mhz memory is good if you're a bencher, but other then that, its pretty much bottlenecked by the processor FSB. Congrats on your purchase!

Actually, the i7 does not have an FSB, AT ALL , they completely removed it from the chip :D . Ergo, no bottleneck!

Well if thats the case and I am wrong then I stand corrected! From what others have mentioned though I dont think there will be that much noticable difference in "real world" operations. None the less, nice becnhing and bragging rights.

Well I think $50 is not really a big deal after all. And you may always feel a somewhat tiny little more happiness when you look at the 1333Mhz line in system info right :D

Ha I guess, but then again getting that extra bit of happiness is why we all bought Alienware over Sager or Dell or whatever :p

The 1333 isn't faster and really provides no benefit besides lower CAS ... You can over click your ram in the m15x anyway

hmm we will see -_^ As for OCing RAM, I had no idea we could OC anything at all on the new m15x, anyone done this in a stable manner yet?

Yeah! Exactly! The same thing happens for Apple products beside its Mac OS. Sager or Asus do not have a so called "at your face attitude" style of AW.
Somehow our avatars are pretty similar. But mine is more well dressed =))

I think 1333 is necessary for I7, the memory frq is the key point to HT.
Nice specs, the same as mine.
