I think this CPU would work but have anyone tried it or have one...can it be overclocked and at what maxx speeds...stable??? I'm trying to see if it's worth it to get this or the QX9300...

It works fine in the M17x and can be overclocked .. Mandrake had one before switching to the Qx9300 and in the end he stuck with the Quad... Depending on your needs i would grab the quad though...

Yes it works. Max speed really depends on whether you get a good CPU or not, some will not overclock at all (unlikely) but most will likely go to around 3.5GHz or above.

I believe that it's cheaper and runs cooler, but at the same time it doesn't feature an unlocked multiplier for overclocking. ;)

When I had the x9100, whenever I change the multi I lost stability. I tested both the x9100 and the T9900 and I preferred the T9900. For benchmarking I would get the QX9300.

Mandrake what do you mean by stability issues? is it stuttering or just BSODs?

BSODs. Keeping the default multiplier and just changing the fsb:mem worked fine. Same thing you would do with a T9900

T9600 is the best dual core to get :)

Cheap but still hits as high as a x9100

T9900 for $340 isn't bad at all. Less power and stress on the proc.

Yea I agree the lower tdp etc ...

But the t9600 might be cheaper and provide the same power ...

    Tdp doesn't matter in the m17x :p
