I was just wondering this, because the two look VERY similar. And if the M9700 shield would fit, it'd save me waiting for an M17 shield to come out/sending my laptop in for them to make one.

The only thing I'd be concerned about is would the shield ruin the laptop's matte finish?

i dont know about the matte finish but link this sheild thing

the m9700 and m9750 and m17 all share a similar chassis , they were all made by Arima. The m9700 lid will fit on the m17 , i have the green lid on here now :)

i would say it will fit just let me see :)

I'm thinking of the insides as well. Then again, the pictures look identical for the lid and inside, so I might as well go for it.

Basically, it's a super-strong, completely scratch-proof film that goes over it. It's more than standard scratch proof coverage.

But if the fingerprint reader is covered, I won't be happy.

It only covers the lid and the wrist/touchpad area, so the thickness is irrelevant. My only problem is if it does cover the fingerprint reader...

it will cover it the m9700 did not have one :)

an exacto knife will fix that :p

and the thickness is a problem if it will not close and latch

the placement/size of the rubber inlays on the lid might be an issue, along with the Skullcap ribs...
