Well what i want this thread to be is a place where you write your experiences with your Alienware laptop in public i think its funny to hear about "normal" peapoles reactions .

Or if you have anything else fun to share you can do it here.

Haha alot of intrested people out there . Ordering mine in 3 days so annoying having to wait for your salery... cant wait

 

Ive gotten complements on both the light up keys and the 'near' edge to edge screen. Then I show them how quickly it can sleep and restart, I smile as I tease them. I also have the Outlet bookmarked and let them know I can get them Alienware for about 20% off retail. Anyone notice Outlet is nearly 30% off, hummm, makes you think. lol

My kids love it and my wife as usual thinks it's juvenile. No one else has seen it yet. But only one who matters is me and I love it, MUAHH HAAAHAA!

 

Most people just stare with that "wish I had that cool tech look"
My wife thinks that the Alienware logo is evil lol!
My close friend who has an iMac just drools over it, I have to ask him to step back so as not to get the drool on my lappies!
A salesman at Best Buy asked me if I would buy him one, lol and said I was the coolest guy in the store (I was wearing an Alienware polo shirt)
My first Alienware was the huge mALX lappy (19 inch screen). once when I was using it in Barnes and Noble an attractive young lady says "wow, that is huge" . Sadly (for her) I was/am married, lol!

 

I was setting up with my laptop at my friend's bar, and got my mouse out of the bag first, MS Sidewinder, and he said "wow, thats a huge mouse!".

When I got the laptop out of the bag, he said: "oh, now I get it"

 

Haha this is gonna help me with the wait i hope, Im ordering mine on thursday...

 

Current experience has been:
Reload Windows
Workaround for the official ati drivers
install games
play around with colors
Call an engineering buddy and see if he can help me completely disable Stealth Mode


I have not taken it out and about, yet. So, I have no little reaction quotes to post about.

 

pull up the touch pad and then remover the sensor for the stealth mode button

 

I was once asked "Why does your laptop need headlights?"

 

I got wow nice! wait you paid how much!!

 

I can tell you the laptop looks really cool under the XRAY machine.

Most Airport staff kinda stare at the screen and wonder what the heck is it - 3 fans ??? lol

My daughter loves my m17x so much that she would like to have her own m11x My wife's first impression was "What is that?" and most people say "Woow that is certainly a huge laptop you got there... Is it a laptop or a desktop???". Actually all that does not matter... What matters is that I love my machine and it's mine... NAaa hahahahhahhaha. It's mine... my precious.... Ah Gollum!, Gollum!

 

I have yet to take my new Aliens outside of my USAF dorm room, but I used to take my m5500 just about everywhere when I was traveling. People used to ask me "how [was I] able to change the lid to my Macbook to look like an alien?" LOL Also I've had people come up and ask "what the h3ll is it?", "could you buy me one too?", and my personal favorite: "That is one bad looking laptop!"

 

mine was nicknamed the star ship enterprise

Just a few I love my laptop it looks very nice and powerful!

 

I actually had a client of mine say this in the middle of a presentation :-

"...whats with all the space between the front an the keyboard? Oh! I see.. its a mousing surface! What a clever idea, you don't need to carry a mouse pad.."

My mom - "..(insert gaping mouth here) how much?!!"
My sis - "..how much? You know my birthday is next month, can i have an i-phone?.."
My dad - "R U SURE THIS IS A DELL? I HAVE A DELL. THIS IS NO DELL!!!"
My ex-wife - "..DO YOU MIND! You're blowing hot air at my face.."

Most others were just variations of Ooh.. and Aah.. and Wow!

 

So far I have been told that it is HUGE, sexy and sleek. I have had a few people start by saying it's huge, then once they use it they take it back and say "for some reason, I know it's huge but it just doesn't feel it!" I then tell them good! And that since it doesn't feel huge, they can carry it around for me hahahaha.

 

I took my system to work and I got two new comments...

"Nice mainframe"
"That's a laptop stuffed in a desktop case"

 

Mostly get comments on the weight. I refuse to tell anybody how much I paid having learned that's a bad idea more often than not.

 

Just tell them you found it in the middle of one of those crop circles

 

I never told my wife how much I paid.....She would flip lol

 

original reaction where a mix of whao and nice at start people didn't even asked how much it costed until a Qosmio started hanging there to sadly for the guy the Qosmio costed the same price that my alienware for half performances

Stealth Win!

I have been very pleased with my R1 M11X. I've taken it on car trips, in hotels, on jets, etc. Portability and battery life rock.

 

Mine was the one who used her credit card to do it, so she could make me give her payments for the next few months
But I helped her get a good deal on a desktop as well because of the order, they gave me cross discounts on both...

 

That would be wrong to do as the secret of our Alien infiltration would be revealed

 

I am a wife and my husband told me last night that he was jealous of my lust for my new to me M17x R1. Once he sees the new M11x, he'll freak. Ah good thing it was my savings plan that I got the loan from, lol.

I did tell him how much I spent for the M17xR1 and how much of a value it was, then I showed him what the blu-ray looked like on the 1080p lcd. I didn't, however, tell him how much I spent on the M11x.

 

I've taken to telling folks it's my maid's laptop and I'm just borrowing it. Seems to get some interesting looks.

 

Well, i will expand my comments a bit:
I saw the first AW machine ever the last year, a friend of mine from USA was helping me to pick any laptop which offer good performance; i was going to buy any laptop; my friend ask me if i know something about Alienware, he point me out to the page and BANG !!!! I was shooting by the love !

Since that day i was decided to get my own AW machine, i was thinking about the M15x at first, but i change my mind to the big Mama; i tried to get a loan for get the money, i was rejected by two banks, they dont wasnt able to give me the money cause i had very low credit experience, anyway, i wanst able the last year to get it . . . but i had the M17x on my mind everyday . . . i use to go to Dell page to see the price and then say: someday, some day. . ..

This year i start to save money, and when i have almost the amount the bank call me: Are you interested in to getb a Credit Card ? . . the amount is . . . . I said, well, i am not too much but what the . . . .

So, with that little amount i reach the goal, i start to sniper every day the page to see if i could get any good thing, i wait till the 5870 appear on the field, and one i saw all the happy costumers i said: Its time to hit them !!!

By my luck, on twitter i saw a twitt from Dell, they say they will offer a discount for Aw machines, the discount was 10%, i call to Dell and i start to deal with the girl who asnwered the phone, i got 5% more and thats it, i got my machine

The time waiting for this was long, it took 32 days to arrive to my country, but once i saw my red powerful machine i figure out it worth the wait . . .

Since the last monday, when she arrive to me i am just gathering info and trying to set this the best it could, i was kinda afraid cause the machine was not responding as well is supposed to do, but, after some questions on this great forum and getting replies from such great people i got the obviously solution, which i knew it but by the emotion and the excitement i didn't, it was on Stealth mode LOL; now, i turn that off and this baby is eating games

Finally ordered my M15x and now its in production cant wait... Meh meh meh!

 

When i first took my M17X to school, all the teachers were staring at me when i was trying to do work, my friends were like, is your dad rich, how the **** did you afford this. I was called Alienboy from that day onwards.

Well I'm still waiting for mine to arrive (Augest 10th, HMMPH!!!). But as of yet I can honestly say that Dell (Alienware) has the worst support in the world. It took me 20 minutes for the guy to transfer me (he left the phone off the hook so I knew he was there) and I've never been pushed to buy so many accessories in my life. I know they make comission but I felt like I was crapping warranty's by the end of my call. No I didn't get an extended warranty, simply because if their laptop fails in the first year it isnt worth fixing.... And if It fails in the second year... Well it shouldnt. ANYWHO! Based on the tech support of dell, if my laptop BSOD's in the first month of owning it I'm going to write them a very angry letter, a letter that so very truely states exactly how angry I am. True story.

 

In the courtroom:
"Are you trying to convert this courtroom into a party place, sir?"
"What is that thing?"
"Isn't Christmas in December?"
"Are you sure that isn't some sort of spy equipment?"

In meetings:
"Jeez, what's that? Where can I buy one like that?"
"Do you take any of our meetings seriously?"
"Can it make coffee? I'll have one with milk."

At home:
"Woooooooooooooooooooooooooow papa!!!"
"So, I see work goes well."
"How many lights are on that thing?"
And of course plenty of: "How much did you pay for that?"
