Well Alienware has done it again, here is my story.
Ordered my M17 on November 24th and received an estimated delivery date of December 8th let the anticipation and waiting games begin.
Started reading all about the delays with video cards and backlit keyboards, not worried yet it’s only been 24 hours since I ordered.
Day 7, still in Phase 2, what’s the deal?
Hold on, you (me) have ordered from Alienware in the past and this can be normal, but reading about all the backordered parts has me worried so I check into MyHive and shoot off a email questioning the status of my M17 build. I receive a reply in a few hours reconfirming that my order is in good standing and the delay in Phase 2 is just a paperwork issue, nothing to be concerned about. I thank them for the quick response and return to pacing around the forums gathering information about the M17 like a sponge.
Day 9 and stuck in Phase 2 still!
Ok, now the anticipation has me going again and reading all the paranoid (some justified-some not) posts in the forums has my mind thinking of all the worst case scenarios, that JellyBean character is going OFF in the forums like a Best of Jerry Springer Show about his M17 troubles.
So I fire off another email, “Is my delay in Phase count due to any backordered parts?” I receive a reply within a few hours stating that they show no backordered parts for my system. I respond with “I trust your professional inquiry on my status and look forward to my M17!”
Day 9 moved to Phase 3, YES!
Things are looking up, man that JellyBean guy is going out of control like a blind dog in a meat house posting in the forums. The CS department at Alienware must see a mass “smoke break” after one of his phone calls. I have money on it he will be banned soon if he keeps making enemies of other forum members. Decide to keep my distance from replying to any of his posts, it’s very tempting but finding it amusing just reading the counter post’s to his foaming at the mouth vindication against Alienware.
Day 10 and holy mother, in Phase 5 baby!
Now we’re talking, things are moving along quite nicely now, guess I was being paranoid.
Well its official, JellyBean has been banned from the Forum for the time being. Will kind of miss reading his rants while enjoying that cup of coffee in the morning, kind feel sorry for the guy, you know, hope that is not me in a few weeks.
Day 11 and Phase 6, now this is what I’m talking about!
Day 14, still in Phase 6!
Here we go again, I kinda miss JellyBeans rants so I can go off hallucinating how things could go wrong with my system build. Not really but you know what goes through your mind when reading any hard luck case that relates to what you might be expecting.
Day 16 and still in Phase 6, look to the Forums for reassurance and post at my jealousness to those whose systems have shipped. Between my posts my system jumps into Phase 8, YES! It then goes to Phase 9 in an hour, the journey through the Phase machine has come to an end game. Alienware just nailed my estimated delivery date, WTG AW! Now off to play that FedX game, they have Phases, just they rename it to Tracking.
I will just jump to it, the system is awesome and I love it! Still tweaking with it but so far it is running and performing as promised!

A cup of joe woulda been nice with reading this post.. very objective, and nice comparisons drawn between a good experience and a bad experience. The waiting game is always mind numbing!
Congrats on the new rig!
-
huh and i make pointless threads? if chaz doesnt delete this there something wrong
-
jellybeans, you just got unbanned... cool off. this thread is fairly helpful, as it objectively (very important, jellybeans
) shows what might happen if you order AW. it shows that the AW phase/status updates are unreliable, and also what to do if you're unsure about which phase you're in. it also shows that in 9 out of 10 cases, there's no reason to panic about which phase you might be in and when your order will be shipped.

Congrats on the system.
I have a CrossFire setup in my desktop; I am very impressed with how well it scales.
I should have an OCZ Whitebook soon for testing so I can share some of these thoughts/experiences. -
looking forward to your Whitebook review, Chaz. will the test rig be fully specced out?

He had the M15x earlier but he had to send it back. -

i would love to do it myself.. everyone knows how critical i can be lol.. if there was anything at all wrong you would know about it. i would test the screens and everything and temps at all points etc...
-

mmmm..OCZ....
