    Hello,

i have updated the bios of my alienware 5790 to 1.19w.
It has an geforce 8600m gt 512MB installed.
    2GB RAM.
    For testing purposes T1300 Processor.
Now the Graphics Card runs in 4bit Mode and the Device Manager in Vista32 Ultimate reports error code 12, there are not enough ressources to run this card properly.
I load defaults in bios and make hardware reset by reinserting the bios battery.
I have reinstalled vista after bios flash to 1.19w.
With bios 1.15 the system runs without a problem.
    Any Ideas ??
Is there any newer Bios for the m5790 ??
Please mail any solutions to [email protected]

    Thanks and Best Regards

Why don't you flash the BIOS back to 1.15? (if you didn't have any problems before)

    Can't.
The BIOS was linked for me by Alienware tech support back in January, 2007 (to replace 1.15), andi it is no longer available in My Hive - unfortuniately at the time I didnt think to back it up onto my XP/Vista x86/x64 driver disk.
You may be able to google for it though, or call Alienware's Tier 2 tech support for a link.

Try reinstalling this as your version may be corrupt

Apparently BIOS 1.20 and the aliendl. ftp site no longer exist. Dead link deleted.

Ps- 8600m gt 512MB -This card is not supported by 1.19/1.20 BIOS, and the MB had to been modified to even fit that card.

With bios 1.15 this card works without a problem und does fit without any modifications in that motherboard !
So i can´t understand that the bios 1.19 is suddenly not compatible with this card ?????????????????
Now it runs with bios 1.15 great but only with 2gb ram.
So if there is no solution i l left it so.

    Thanks

Vista will install/update all 32-bit/64-bit drivers (Windows Update) except for the following:
note- all the below drivers support both x86/x64 Vista versions

x1800/x1900 Catalyst Version 8.31.100.2 061108a-038707C (newer than the Alienware Catalyst version which does not support x64)

Realtek HD Audio (enables HD audio manager features for muting of speakers when headphone jack used, and enables voume knob)

ISO dvd image creation for default Vista Burner ( not necessary if using 3rd party software such as Nero)
