    I've decided to part with my alienware. I am going to get a netbook instead. Anyone else doing this type of downgrade? I'm curious how many people are going to smaller &less powerful laptops out there.

    $1200 for an outdated m7700 is a bit steep!

    Fellow m7700a owner here. I see I'm not the last one standing; so much for my self-deception!

    I'm going the other way - bigger and heavier. Lugging around the m7700a and its 600 pound power brick has been a good weight training warm-up, so I'm ready to take it up a notch with the M17x.

    You just looking to get more mobile, and/or is your primary use more business and less gaming-related?

    Don't discount its space heating abilities - a potential price enhancing feature. Winter is just around the corner, ya know...

    I would think around $500 max......this would be beat by many a cheap laptop today

    And $500 will get you a tricked out Netbook haha (as long as you dont have a top of the line ssd in it)

    plus you have to order a motherboard immediately.....I had one and they blew motherboards all the time!

    You could have a dell xps for that price! I think 500 would be a charitable contribution....lol

    @Sager: Space heater = LOL!

    @synace: 1200 is ludicrous for that laptop, but there is a sucker born every minute I suppose :)
