LOL. If you wanted to save money, Alienware is a big no no. Congrats on buying a premium (some say overpriced) brand.
Go buy a Ferrari. Think they're going to waive the delivery fee? -
you don't want that expensive hunk of plastic and silicon to get damaged on the way. you gotta pay to give it the royalty treatment. chaffeur driven and delivered to your door as well.
-
and also.. alienware box's... are pretty big.
-
If you are paying 3100 dollars on a notebook, $70 shouldn't be a concern....
-
The box is quite nice if I recall, themed boxes.
Voodoo PC's have nice shipping methods, they ship it in wooden crates to you filled with your notebook, manuals and lots of hay
-
-
LOL!
A wooden crate!? That's too good.....

it is kind of bad that they do charge such a high price for delivery
a next day premium delivery service is wasted when you have to wait a month for your laptop
delivery comes with guarantees as well though, I suppose they are just including insurance on that. -
This thread cracks me up
-
Yeah. This straight pisses me off. My laptop configuration went over 2200 Euros, and they still charge 208 Euros additional for shipping. Now THAT is a lot. Hell, I'm not even asking for free shipping, but that's just TOO much.

lets see alienware opens a HQ in europe all those Vat charges you guys have im not surprised prices are pretty high, but as far as shipping goes they charged me 57.98 shipping to Hawaii you would think i would be charged the most cause im not even on the continental US! only thing is did you rush deliver it? or chose another shipping option? As far as high shipping charges go you are basically paying for material+fedex or UPS whichever you choose. Its not called SHIPPING & HANDLING for nothing.
-
OMG 200 euros, where do you live man?
It was a 50 euros thing for shipping in my case which is true could have went to an upgrade but hey, I dont want my mailman drop off the box in the morning on the door steps with my bills....
-
The only option for delivery here from Alienware is DHL Express, which is that crazy amount! -
hmm.. a bit more and it would be cheaper to fly to UK and get it lol.
-
The topic title "alienware has a lot of nerve to charge for shipping on a 3100 doller notebook." applies to me a lot more than the OP, really, cus my laptop config cost more (2200 euros) and they would've charged multiplicatively more on delivery. -
it costs 207 euros to ship to singapore as well! i don't mind though..
-
I'm picking the $100 two day option when I get mine. Definitely much beeter price than what you poor saps are having to pay
Side note, I was born in Bahrain! Too young to remember anything though -

also 220 euros? thats like insanity. thats around 360 usd! i can buy another budget gateway for almost that price! -
Delivery is slow where I am (just outside D.C.), if I pick ground it will take forever to get here.
-
dang... between shipping and cs and the side lighting, people here complain about everything. If you don't like it, dont buy it.
why would they NOT charge shipping?
and for everyone overseas... maybe some company in YOUR country can design and sell laptops that YOU want, and then you won't have to pay as much for shipping. -
I agree somewhat with the OP. I have an AW on order (even after some horrible CS that I have described in earlier threads) so I am not being biased. But AW is not the boutique of years past. With growth and popularity I think should come some convenience. If you buy falcon-nw or Voodoo you can truly see the extra details that HAVE to come with the premium (good CS, great shipping quality, etc). Now that AW has more money, they should do free shipping like Dell does on their "premium" and expensive XPS. AW has indeed lost some of the premium touch when it was a smaller boutique. It just has. Obviously I still like their notebooks since I ordered one.
-
The one thing they are good at though is stocking high powered components. Last time I checked voodo/falcon's offerings they were charging an exorbitant amount of money for a POS with a fancy paint job and an 8700 under the hood. Could have changed now, but they seem slow to adopt new components.
I haven't bought from Alienware before (this'll be my first), but I do agree their CS needs lots of improvement.
alienware has a lot of nerve to charge for shipping on a 3100 doller notebook.
