Before YOU DO anything, install your favorite image software and image your partition FIRST.

Takes 15 minutes to do and can save you hours later.
After that, install bunch of crap to test and screw around with settings. Then when you feel you screw something up really badly and want to settle with the right programs and settings, restore the image.

If you do anything else before imaging your partition, then you can never go back to the perfect state. (I messed up the MBR so much that I can't even get respawn working, the image saved me trouble in 13 minutes of restoring)

you want real free or free?

for real free, i use macrium reflect free version, it's not bad.
if you want the other option, get ghost, but it's a little tricky to make the dos boot rescue USB flash drive to work 100%.

why not? If you are big enough, you can image it first, and sign while waiting.
