    hi all!
im new to the forum =)

i have a quick question. I was given an alienware m5500i-r3 series notebook. im anxious for it to be fixed. all i need to do is find a new gpu for it since the previous owner told me that the gpu currently inside isn't working. where would i purchase a new one? i've tried searching endlessly on google.com but to no avail...

and, i understand that the m5500 has a go6600. is there an upgradable gpu?

    thanks!

Hello, good to hear you've also got a m5500i-R3. I also need a new GPU but mine has been fitted with a Go 7600. As they are MXM II type graphics cards you could try looking here:

    http://www.mxm-upgrade.com/upgrades.html

I'm thinking of adapting mine to fit an ATI X1800 if I can't find another 7600

Welcome to the forum! The m5500i-r3 is known as the m5550. Yes, the go6600 is one of the cards that were offered on the system. The go7600 was also offered. They also offered an ATI card but I don't remember the exact model number. If the above link doesn't work for you, call Alienware and ask them if they will sell you one. Won't be cheap. The m5550 is a great notebook. Both of mine are almost 2 years old and have rarely given me a problem. Good luck and enjoy!
