hi, I just purchase a m15x yesterday night using debit card.

But this morning I receive a VISA fraud call from my bank to verify the deposit and I go on and check my bank activity and found out Alienware deposit $1000 for card authorization!!!! and along with another one from ARCOT SYSTEMS, INC. SUNNYVALE CAUS with only $1 but same reason.

Could any one tell me why? Is this normal? Should I call alienware about this?

just to confirm my suspicion. I purchase with debit card and I said I don't know for the daily limit spending number, I wonder if this 1000 is just for that purpose?

hmmm ya your daily limit could be interfering. you should defiantly give your bank a call and explain the situation.

hm...I just called the customer services and they said that $1000 is put by Alienware not the daily limit.

The sales department can answer any questions related to your purchase. If AW has held $1000 as a pre-authorization, the sales department can probably tell you why they have done so.

Use the number I listed above tomorrow anytime between 9:00am - 9:00pm EST.

as the big O said: the 1k may be a pre-auth for them.
the 1 dollar was probably a basic CC# chk with the bank to verify information.
but i am curious why you chose a debit transaction vice the credit.

Really depends on who you speak to.

The people at the sales department are often helpful in answering questions. The technical support department ( I normally refer to them as normal CS) could use a lot of improvement--- and the Roswell Crew is fantastic with customer service.

I'm sure that's how it should be. The payment shouldn't be fully processed until you've reached Phase 3.

    Phase 2: (Billing/Finance)
Your order has been validated and is waiting payment processing. While in this stage we are confirming any credit card and/or payment information for security purposes. Please understand that this phase is necessary as it will protect you the customer from any fraudulent transactions. We observe very strict security guidelines and hope you will appreciate our efforts. Note: Your method of payment and other factors may influence how quickly we can build your PC.

    Phase 3: (Payment Processed)
Payment has been received and the order is now in queue for production.

Assuming nothing goes on backorder and everything arrives on time, not too long.

My past 3 laptops that I got from AW all came in a timely matter and actually come to thing of it both my M5550 and my M9750 came ahead of schedule, my current m9750 was delayed because of the Slave 8700GT.

If it is a new laptop it could take a long time depending on the backorder / stock.

No. It's not something I would consider as a common issue. As long as you take good care of your m15x, chances are that you won't be experiencing this issue.
