is it good? worth the money?
i want to buy a new bag with my AW m15x, and i want to know if the bag is as good as the machine.
im also a student, so i need room for notebooks (paper ones), pens, wallet and stuff... so to invest another 89$, or just go to a bag store and buy a better one for cheaper?
-
no idea about the alienware bag but the Wenger Sphinx is a great 15" laptop bag!
-
I'm getting the metal briefcase for mine. It's got pocket for notebooks and pens and stuff on the top part when you open it.
-
try the mobile edge website..they are the ones tht get the backpacks and other carrying cases for alienware...u can get much more variety there...although the prices of the AW bags there are still the same i think
-
I ordered the AW briefcase. it will do he job for me , since i only use it when travel for training and seminars, and friends house. coz we meet in one house and play WoW raids in same room .
-
Targus makes some really nice bags and backpacks, excellent quality, lots of storage.
-
I personally didn't go with the AW because it will also fit a 17" bag and I was thinking it might be to big. If you do get it let us know what you think
-
ok...just read tht going thru NBR to mobile edge gives u 10% off as well as free shipping (if ur in the US/ ground shipping)
-
This'll hold everything. Gonna buy this for when I travel and want to carry all my accessories. -
I bought this briefcase on Monday, got here yesterday
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834996917
Really nice case, has 2 3digit locks, hard shell(I believe alumnium or really really hard plastic), soft interior and has a seperate pouch that stores the notebook up to 15.4 inch screens. You can pull the entire notebook pouch part out and only use that if you so choose, which is what im going to be doing for when I take it to classes. The case itself has plenty of room for anything, mouse, power brick some college books, pens and papers etc.
I paid damn near 4,000 for x9000 and gtx 8800m with vista ultimate, my notebook deserves security/safety and luxury lol. Damn right im not going to cheap out and get something cheap to store it in. -
EVERYTHING.. LOL

What?? Too big? Sometimes I like to carry a small Volkswagen so I don't have to rent a car
-
i was planning on buying a North Face Surge since i think that back pack looks pretty good and it seems like a good laptop bag. I know that the bag shouldnt be bad since i use a hot shot bag for school and thats a pretty good bag for books.
-
The alienware backpack is very nice. It holds my dell e1705 and all accessories with ease. It's a very nice backpack and has held up for over 2 years. I would highly suggest buying it. I will be using it for my m15x.
-
The only problem that I personally have with getting an Alienware backpack is that it is advertising to the wrong people... If your carrying around a generic backpack, or a good quality one that doesn't advertise 'I have a Laptop,' then people, more importantly thieves, won't give you a second look. If they think you have an alienware with all high end stuff in it, then you are going to be worrying about it alot more... Mind, if you don't do alot of traveling, and its to LAN parties etc, then your fine
For me traveling around alot, i unfortunately have to take this into account :-(
-
thank u all guys. im thinking about getting this one.
its for the university and 2-hour rides in the bus, mainly.... if anyone knows a reason why we shouldnt be joined in holy matremony, let them speak now or forever hold their peace (or something like that)... :0 -
Anyone using the Alienware backpack?
-
I use the aw backpack but bought a belkin neoprene sleeve to use together with the backpack. It feels like the storage compartment where the laptop goes is too tight for the m9750 so i use the sleeve and keep it out of that compartment. I've read about people wearing the edges of their 17" laptops out by using it without xtra protection, should be fine for a 15" though.

How about an alternative for the overprized aluminum case also made out of 2 pressed pieces:
http://dicota.com/start.php?office=36&page=page_productDetails&ds=345
This one costs 59 euros (Netherlands) instead of 218 euros @ AW.
They have countless solutions for cases made of all kind of materials. The choice however is huge making it kinda difficult to choose -
Thats quite a nice one for that price.. Though it looks more suited for traveling IMO..
I'm a backpack kinda guy and would probably go with something a little more casual.. Maybe one from the BacPac series Dicota has.. They got some that are rain, wind & weather resistant and even have exchangeable covers
Choice 1 and 2..
1 is cooler cause it comes with a sleeve as well - but it won't fit the m15x -
I just bought the dicota alu one,
hoping it will protect my m15x better against occasional shocks, cause I move around a lot. The case seems also a solution for use on my lap. Maybe I will build some fans in for 'lapuse'
-
Coolio
Congrats on the buy.. Hope you're able to get the fans in too..
Ooooo ~» How about adding a cola dispenser to keep you refreshed on the go ? -
Great idea, I was also thinking of retractable wheels so I can drag it behind my car or integrate it with a camper solution for "outdoorsports".
-
Those backpack's come in many colors i c,..nice choice W

15" for 24.99CAD

or the 17" for 29.99CAD

Ricky, the dicota and AW ones are supposed to be more impact resistant due to the 2 piece mold of the aluminum it has also ridges for support.
-
I see
thanks -
great pricing though
-
I initially wanted an AW bag for my laptop when I'll order it but now I've changed my mind. I don't want it to attract everyone's eyes even when I'm walking on the streets or holding the bag in a train, etc. so I'll settle for a more subtle one that does the job.
-
-
@Ricky S's: Along with the good pricing, if you slap some stickers on it and give it a grunge/punk kinda look.. It'd look real cool
@SsuRReaLL: If your m15x will ship on the 31st of March then when would you most likely recieve it ? Just wondering -
I really have no idea i chose the 40 euro option which says 3 days,... the 80 euro option would be .....hold on........2 days LOL. I also forgot where I can find the estimate arrival date but it should be 28-31 -ish. So thats quite a long time however the xps1530 had a waiting time of 3 weeks so not a big difference there. Although the macbook pro would take only 1 week!!!
@crystak I think AW is a brand only known by game/ hardware geeks or it-pro's. Not by the general public. So the little Alien head on the bag will probably not attract much attention. -
the reason why macbooks only take a week is because it's continually being manufactured.. they make 'em and store 'em.. and they just ship 'em out when there's a buyer.. so those types are easier to get.
for alienware, people buy 'em THEN they make 'em.. that's why there's no such thing as an 'alienware store' (at least i'm pretty there isn't one.. right?) -
lots of alienlookin' stores overhere but not 1 that sells laptops
-
Yea shamneo your quite right about the no real AW store. They do have a kiosk at Dademall in Miami. But they only keep a bunch of peripherals and some pre-configured laptops there so no 'store' per se..
@SsuRReaLL: Man *40 Euros More* just for one day sooner!! Dang that's a rip off !!

I go to college so if I get the backpack I would have two backpacks to carry. How hard is it to carry two in the back at the same time? Never done it before.
The briefcase seems more appropriate but the backpack is also cheaper and can fit more in... -

Microsoft sells good bags for 17" laptops
the official microsoft store (google microsoft store)

my question is, would a 15" bag be good for this laptop? I mean it might be tiny bit thicker and wider than normal laptops, so it might have problem fitting into a 15" laptop bag.
-
Most sellers state the max size of the laptop you can put in.
"For Notebooks up to:" http://www.dicota.com/start.php?menuId=62-page_products for USA or start @ http://www.dicota.com to choose a country. -
how about targus bags or belkin bags? Never saw anyone mentioning those, they any good? Some of them are a bit too colorful tho
-
When I pulled the Alienware bag out of the box yesterday I fell on my ass laughing. It's a great looking bag but but I had seen it before. I just retired after 22 years in the US Air Force and I spent a lot of that time working with the Army. The bag is a modified version of the standard issue combat pack for the Army. It's much nicer but it's exactly the same dimensions, zippers, snaps, straps all identical. I'll see if I can get one and post a photo comparison. Hey, if it's good enough for combat, what the heck. You'll still need a good padded sleeve, the built in one was an afterthought

anyone have any experience with the AW odyssey messenger bag? looks promising and def. badasss
-
there is no such thing as a badass messenger bag
-
damnit, is the AW messenger bag not good? -
It is a 15 point 4 inch notebook. Most 15" bags I looked at only said suitable for 12-15 inch. (Meaning max 14.1 inch, I think.)
I think I would rather get the 15" version if it would fit and have space for extra stuff. Has anyone tried this notebook in a 15" case? -
I ended up getting a 17" bag and it fit like a glove lol. I think m15x is really is a 15" notebook with 17" body! -
By the way, I only looked at messenger-type-bags so maybe backpack bags are sized a little differently. Maybe 15" backpacks will fit the m15x. I remember that most messengerbags are designed to be very compact.
an AW laptop bag
