Like whats the deal with these garbage laptops. I pay for an alienware - the seemingly flagship of laptops- and get returned with crap.
Ofcourse, like any warrenty mine ended this month, and now its broken.![]()
First my fans went on my laptop which was making it overheat, they sent me a replacement fan to justify the problem.
Now, my hinge is broken on my laptop. I think i've opened and closed it like what, 6 times? In over a full year? Quality.
Who do I talk to about this.
-
Not us. Try alienware and then possibly a lawyer.
-
You talk to Alienware/Dell customer service. If your warranty is expired, there's not much they can do for you though.
-
Not true, if your hinge is broken you can probably convince them to repair it for free especially since your warranty just recently ended. AW is well aware of the hinge issue and if you handle it right you can sometimes get a free repair. Might also want to renew your warranty while you're at it if you plan on keeping it.
-
Anyone happen to know how much this hinge is to repair?
-
Call up Alienware. I'm not sure about the price quotes...

-
if you do replace it your self, put a bit of epoxy on the lid plastic were the hinge meets the lid. That will keep it from shattering again.
-
I hope you bought it after looking around in forums regarding the hinge issue. I'm not saying everyone that purchased an m15x has run into that problem, but it sure does sound like it. Yes, it dropped in price to $1099, but it's not like they changed the chassis and made it better. I feel bad for anyone that bought that m15x after all the gripes within the first 2 months of release.
-
Don't feel bad for me. I'm lovin' my m15x
