Just realise that despite the published Alienware policy of providing you a fully-updated system, you'll have a lot of Vista updates to download. :)

I've been using the stock alienware drovers on mine, and have had no performance issues. Of course, the only graphics intensive game I play is Dawn of War II - the game runs great, though the GPU's get a little hot. maybe I'll try a new driver someday to see if there's a performance boost...

Anyway, my point is that from what I recall (it's been years, you'll have to tell me if this has changed) E.V.E. online isn't too graphics-intensive, so you won't NEED any upgraded drivers - it should run for you out of the box, and run well.

One thing I'd recommend is downlaod a heat monitor - i use the hwmonitor one, from the l'helpful info' thread here in the alienware forum - I find it very helpful to know what my temps are and keep an eye on them.

cheers for the advice guys, Eve has become a lot more graphics intensive recently with teir new premium client. Part of the reason i stepped up and purchased a new laptop as my old one ground to a halt just logging in. aparantly my misses thinks that £2000 on a laptop to play one game is a bit over the top. Dont know what she means! Not sure shell be too pleased when she comes in from work to find me playing EVE on the 50" LCD TV in the front room!

Yeah, Eve overhauled their engine technology. It's downright beautiful now.
